Glock 27 ques.

So I was planning on getting a glock 20 to carry while hunting in the woods, especially when black bear hunting because of the power of the 10mm round and then also getting a smaller pistol 38 or something to carry. All I have now is a full size 1911. Not the easiest to carry and would like more performance in the woods. After going through the finances I have come to the difficult realization that I can't afford two pistols. I have had someone offer me an almost new glock 27 (baby glock 40 cal) for 350. The price seems good and they carry well. My question is would you feel comfortable carrying one in the woods. I bow hunt for bear and like a pistol for backup, which is now legal in washington as long as you have cc permit. Anyway hit black bear Vs. baby glock 40 am I safe or should I get something more powerfull. Thanks for the help.

10mm but just b/c of bears.

Stay with 10mm in bear country.

Glock 29 and/or Glock 29SF is what you should be looking at.
Slightly bigger than the "baby Glocks" and about the size of the "compact" Glocks.
So, it's easier to carry (concealed or open) and still in 10mm.
10 round magazines are standard, but you can use the 15 round Glock 20/20SF magazines in it.

The G-20, or G29 would be my choice for carrying in the woods where bears could be a problem. I actually own a G-20. However, if you take a hard look at the actual risks, there is a far greater likelyhood you will need a gun for 2 legged predators. At that price I would go ahead and get the G-27 now and get another 10mm later when you can afford it.

The 40 would not be my 1st choice as a woods gun, but with the right ammo it would be in the top 5.

Definatly the Glock 20. I carry mine when we go hiking in the mountains. I also have a S&W 500 for Grizzleys. It is much heavier and bulky. I prefer the Glock.

That is a damn good price on the glock I would scoop it up someway. The other people gave good advice on the other part.
