Glock 42 Slide Locking Prematurely

To eliminate the possibility of accidentally activating the slide stop lever, shoot it with your left hand on the trigger.

The G42 has a different slide stop lever assembly as compared to the larger counterparts. It has a coil spring built into the lever (similar to the NY1 connector concept).

If it is an issue with the rounds contacting the lever internally during operation, you need to get a hold of Glock. They need to know this problem exists at the very least.

Already tried left hand, one hand, etc...it is not my grip I'm 100% sure. Glock knows it's a problem...it's been a common complaint (apparently), and is the reason they redesigned the slide stop tab (looks like they did not remove enough material, however).

I have tweeked mine with 800 grit by removing some of the offending metal, and polishing the edge to a radius rather than sharp. I'll see if that improves function.

So I went back to the range today with the slide stop tweeked a bit. No issues with the slide locking open prematurely at all. That problem appears to be solved.

I did have an unusual failure however. On each of the first 2 magazines of Gold Dots, when I fired round #5 in the magazine, round #6 flipped up out of the magazine...the first time it stove-piped the live round, and the 2nd time the live round flew completely out of the pistol onto the shooting table. Never had that happen before...had me worried. Shot another 150 rounds of miscellaneous ammo w/out incident.

Conclusion after $200+ in ammo: don't use GD in my G42. Anything with an XTP bullet or ball is good to go.
