I've had my Glock 42 for almost two months.

So far I've function tested it with a variety of RN FMJ loads to include Federal white box, Fiocchi, American Eagle, Mag Tech, Armscor & CCI Blazer brass was well as commercial reloads from Wisconsin Cartridge.

I also function tested it with some Winchester Silvertips & Federal Hydroshocks that are nearly 25 years old, as well as Hornady Critical Defense which is what my PD mandates for off duty carry.

The only malfunctions I had were with new magazines that sometimes had a failure to feed all the way on the second round fired from the magazine. Once the mags broke in a little bit the problem went away.

I anticipate using the G42 as a backup at work & as a concealment gun in really hot weather. I bought a Galco ankle glove ankle holster and have used it quite a bit & found it to be quite comfortable. I've ordered a Mika holster to go on the straps of my body armor but it isn't here yet.

The G42 is very pleasant to shoot & has decent sights. I'm going to order night sights for it shortly. I have put Pearce grip extender floorplates on all my magazines. I have big hands & use the Pearce floorplates on all my little guns to give me a little more to grab onto.

My other .380s are a Sig 230 & a Walther PPK. Until recently my PD issued Sigs and the P230 was my backup gun.

Thanks for your review. While I'm by no means a "Glock" guy, were I in the market for a carry gun in .380, that's one that could very well add the "G" name to my safe inventory..

Thanks for the review. We were really stuck for a gun my Wife could manage and finally found it in the G42 - I did not have .380 in the house until this but I am now a convert to the .380 acp. Mostly because of the Glock 42.

I hand load pretty hot 100 gr. flat nose plated bullets and they are mild and accurate in the G42 giving my Wife 3X per second into a sub 4" group at 21'. She loves it and when Momma is happy?

Everybody is happy! :)

I picked up a 42 a couple of months ago, and then proceeded to pick up another, a couple of weeks later. What can I say, its a sickness. :)

I swore I wasnt going to bother until they brought it out in 9mm, but after getting the 42's, I'd really be surprised if they bother. The 42 is really about the same size as the 26, just slightly thinner. I was going to replace my 26's with the 42's, but so far, thats not happening. I still prefer the 26's, and their capability to use the 17, or any of the other larger mags.

I do like the 42's though, and have been shooting them a good bit. Ive got around 1000 rounds through the one now, and havent had any issues yet.

I have put tritium front sights on both of them. Id like a full set of three dots, but it doesnt seem Meprolight or Trijicon have got around to it yet. Somebody does have a full set, but I wasnt familiar with the maker and figured Id wait. The front sights are just $30 or so, and are readily available. They work OK alone, but it would be nice to have a rear like all the rest.

The only other thing Ive done, is stipple the grip on the first one. Ill be doing the second here soon. Been doing it to most of my Glocks since I saw the benefits of doing my first 17.

Shooting the 42's is like shooting any of the other Glocks. Easy to shoot, and very soft shooting compared to most .380's. The locked breach is much more pleasant to shoot than the blowbacks. The only other .380 Ive owned that was comparable in that respect, was the SIG P238. Unfortunately, the P238 was a dog, and not at all reliable. Ive owned a couple of P230's (still have one), and its been one of my favorites for about 20 years now, and the one to beat. At this point, it looks like the 42 has done that.

I am a Glock guy and the 42 is too big for pocket and deep cover carry for me. I sold mine and went for a Kahr CW 380.:D

Jeff...
Since you also have a P230 and a PPK, how does the G42 compare in size to those two.
Also how does it compare in accuracy past 15 yards compared to both?
