I recently got a new Glock 19 MOS Gen 5 in FDE at a good price . I changed the sights to Trijicon Brite and Tough contrasting green front and Orange rear white outlined nite sights and put a Faxon threaded barrel on it . I also mounted an Olight Baldor laser/light and got a kydex concealment OWB holster to fit the combo from Holster co. . I started with a Clock 17 30 years ago and shot it ALOT early on and was issued one ten years later when I reserved for a local PD (they went to .40) and legally carried "off duty" a Glock 26 for about 5+ years in a non CCW friendly Ca. county. I never modified one and never really warmed up to a Glock finding them "combat " accurate and allways being leery of the trigger when reholstering. I have tried about every platform available and really only comfortable with DA/SA crunchen tickers
So when my son and his inlaws in Oregon went to Glock I reconsidered as we stick together in "interesting" situations the past year - fires , plagues and riots and bad people in Oregon, with very little police. Having common magazines to share seemed prudent, in long term and the inlaws in 2019 invested in huge stashes of 9mm and went to local training seminars and carry 19s and 17s and 26s (with 19 mags and spacers) . So I got me a 19 which I never had before and always considered perfect , as that is what the Hispeed low drag agents I knew had. Personally I like Glock 21s the best and have a real nice one for a decade ready to go in a chest holster that IS super accurate.
The new Glock Gen 5 does have a nicer trigger feel than the previous ones and the frame , with the short duckbill , fits me perfectly , Better than the Shields I have had , which I considered "throw away" pistols if I got caught carrying extra legal in Ca. , which never happened . I have not yet decided on the optic to put on the new Glock MOS , but am leaning towards the J point 8 MOA except for the battery location . I ran 200 rounds of PMC ball thru my New Glock 19 with the factory barrel and sights the first week I had it, I really liked it and it was a 4" at 25 yard gun factory. I have run another 200 rounds of same PMC Bronze ammo thru it with the Faxon barrel and Trijicon sights , which I centered and it is now a 3" 25 yard gun from the same braced position , zero malfunctions of course !
I put on the small paddle holstered combo whenever I leave the house as the default rig. I solved the fear of the Glock trigger by leaving the gun in the holster at all times unless I am servicing it, carefully.. A proper fitting trigger shielding Kydex holster of the Glock to me is my answer to the trepidation I have for carrying one . I like the Gen 5 Glock 19 with the short Duckbill grip better than any other small frame Glock yet and have tried the 43x and 48 and they were too much like a Shield for my taste.
