Gimmick, yes, at best it is just a marketing gimmick. I have owned and fired many Glocks. I think adding rails and groves and strap ons (lol) without focusing on the mechanics is just a marketing gimmick.
I love my second gen Glock 19. To me, Glock had topped out in the second gen. After that it has done nothing to impress me further. I wanted a better out of box trigger, night sights, etc etc. Instead, Glock comes out with more makeup and less meaningful improvements.
After handling and shooting 4th gen, I passed on it like I did on the 3rd gen. I still use my 2nd gen, and have put through is more rounds then I care to remember.
