After a ton of research and multiple trips to guns shops in two states, I decided to buy a Glock G19 Gen 5 MOS.
They are available online all day long for $599. Through the Blue Label program, they are $100 less, or $499.
I told my dealer that I wanted one and to order it in last week.
Called today to see if it was in and he said there are currently none available and my name has been added to a waiting list. I asked how long before they had one available and he said he had no idea. Could be a couple of weeks or a month. I called the only other blue label dealer within 100 miles and they told me the same thing.
Normally, I'd just wait. I'll be patient and save $100.
But, Washington just passed a new gun bill that goes into effect January 1st. It pretty much puts an end to buying pistols and semi-auto firearms for residents of Washington unless they agree to release all of their medical and mental health records to the local chief of police. You also have to show proof that you passed an approved firearms safety course within the past 5 years.
My local police chief is a petty and corrupt man. He's not getting my records.
So, I can't buy guns anymore until either the law is struck down (currently being challenged by the NRA) or if I sell my house and move.
So basically, I need to get any new firearms within a month.
Anybody have any experience with how long it takes Glock to release pistols? Any precedent? Apparently, the pistol is a hot item and Glock has only made so many. They allocate a set number of pistols for Blue Label purchases and have to produce more to release more pistols.
I have no idea how long this will take and neither does my dealer. It's frustrating. I'd hate to have to spend $100 extra for the same pistol just so I can get one before the new anti-constitutional laws go into effect.
