Glock gen 4. Question about finish.

I like holster wear. It makes a gun look like it will work when I need it.

I've got a Gen 2 19 that if I carry it in a holster that doesn't cover the end of the slide it rubs on my jeans and gets shinny. Contemplating refinishing it with Duracoat. Rubbing it down with FrogLube on the exterior slows it down.

Glocks are all alike, and they don't really collect much in the way of style points. The only thing that gives them some individual character, IMO, is honest wear marks.

I don't think your gun will rust. If you're worried about it, wipe the slide down with a silicone cloth once in awhile. That might even sort of disguise some of the scuff marks.

If you get a magnifying glass out, Glocks have a matte finish, which resembles a stipple pattern.

Where that stipple is worn smooth, it gets shiny. But, the finish is still there, it's just buffed to non-matte. Which makes it stand out. Which attracts the eye and causes worry. Worry is generally a waste.

Well, went searching, I have no photos of my Colt .380 Government, which has well over a third of the finish gone to bare metal, yet it refuses to rust (a good thing in my book).

My Gen 1 G17 had all kinds of buffed-down edges, but, none were through the Tennifer, even though a couple looked that deep.
