"Glock" Moral Dilemma

They are both ugly black and squarish. Whats the difference exactly?

Just jokes.... Id file a BBB complaint if he was specifically told he bought a Glock
Don't waste your time with the BBB. They're pro business. As such they bend over backwards to make sure nothing will be accomplished.

What you want is to make a complaint to the attorney general of your state. They usually have anti fraud divisions to take care of these sorts of things. They may already know about the seller.

Obviously you've never met my dog.

Back in the day, I go out to the kitchen for breakfast and give my mom a smart comment about putting a dirty bowl out for my cereal.

Evidently my redbone hound Dutchess had climbed up on the table and slurped down the whole bowl of hot grapenuts in the time it took for my mom to come and call me to come out for breakfast.

if you have never had a friend thats 100% trustworthy, then you have never had a dog.

If you don't tell him he's liable to go back to that same dealer and come back with a $600 pot metal Smith & Wesson.
And make sure the kid doesn't do something stupid like go back with a full magazine in the Hi-Point and demand his $200 change back.

I'd discreetly inquire if he thought that he had actually been sold a "Glock" or some other brand. If he say's that the dealer told him it was in fact a "Glock", I'd explain the difference to him and perhaps go with him to speak with the dealer.
You would be doing him a disservice by not clarifying the difference between the two guns. Which of us was born with complete gun knowledge? Give a fellow gunny a hand.
Let us know what happens.

Regardless of whether he's naive or ignorant, he was ripped off by paying 2x what that gun should cost. If he doesn't know enough to look out for his own interests a decent person who knows better should enlighten him, if for no other reason than to keep it from jappening again. Myself I'd visit the scumbag who sold it to him when other customers were present and let everyone know about his devious practices. I have no use for thieves like that no matter what their line of business.

I didn't read every post closely, but I'm surprised not to find a lot of posts recommending to blatantly tell the proud Hi-Point owner, "Dude, you just bought a $160 gun for more than twice its going price, and what you got is not a Glock."

I've encountered a few guys that refer to their various-make black semi-auto pistols as their "glock," but I wouldn't let my daughter date any of them.

He says its new pistol. So, he didn't notice it says Hi-Point on the slide, on the box, the manual, the 4473 and (presumably) the bill of sale? Miss identifying a firearm is one thing, but missing that many clues is more than a little odd. Be that as it may, yes, let him know what he has.

I am curious. Does anyone's cheek hurt? Looks like a lure was used with this thread and you have all been hooked. Originally posted in April and never posted another thing since.

That sucks! Funny story, when I was younger and didn't know much about guns I was told someone had a baby Glock (aka G26 or I was hoping) for $200. We meet up and he hands it to me and it wasn't a Glock. I was intimidated by the guy so I bought it anyways. It was a shady deal and I was young and dumb. Ended up being a Hi-point 9mm. This was when they were only $100 new. I was so mad but there was nothing I could do. Lesson learned and I no longer associated myself with those type of people. I feel sorry for him, but he should have done some research. I can't believe he couldn't tell it wasn't a Glock. Even when I was handed the gun, I knew it wasn't. But I didn't know what it was either because I had never heard of Hi-point or any of their firearms. I would tell him to take it back and get his money back unless the guy he got it from is a shady character which from what I read it sounds like it. At least he has a decent gun I guess. I never cared for mine as it was a heavy pot metal POS in my eyes. I know a lot of people like them. Just not for me.

Sad as it is, too many times I had a card carrying member of the sagger crowd wander in to the shop, point at a Hi-Point and announce, "Yo-Yo-Yo, I be havin me one oh dem Glocks in foetee!"

After deciphering enough of the ghetto slang to understand he either wanted to buy one of the guns, (inevitably, the guy could not legally buy the gun and would try the next train of thought, send his girlfriend after it,, Fail.), OR he actually was in possession of a Hi-Point and was trying to buy ammo for the damn thing, (Again, Fail. No gun card, under 21, etc., etc., etc.), I came to the conclusion that this was a very common street idea that Hi-Points were indeed Glocks!
At least they roughly, (and I do mean roughly!), resembled Glocks to those completely stupid about guns...

In retrospect, anybody stupid enough to have a friend stupid enough to buy a HiPoint doesn't deserve our attention.
