Glock or DA revolver for winter car gun?

I use my G19 under very similar circumstances.

BTW, while it shouldn't have any effect on the temps of the car storage, I think a car vault is a VERY GOOD idea for people that must store a gun in a car on a daily basis.

I use a Center of Mass vault behind my driver's seat - and it's actually easier to get to the gun in the vault (unlocked while I'm driving of course) than it would be in my IWB rig while driving.

I've tested various Rugers (security Sixes, SP-101's) in deep cold with no ill effects. The fuction was 100%, but as noted the real problem with any firearm in that cold is from taking it inside and out. Condensation quickly forms inside, and just as quickly turns to rock-hard ice outside. That will potentially disrupt any firearm. I haven't tested a glock in deep cold, but it should be OK within those parameters. It's really a question of preference. Both the big Rugers and the Glocks have enough room in the trigger guard to shoot with gloves on.

What I would be concerned about for a defensive gun in extreme cold conditions (beyond absolute reliability) would be a nice long DA trigger. Not only are they much more suitable to high stress situations (simple--will fire when you want them to, and won't when you don't want them to), but gunhandling and fine motor movements go all to hell in extreme cold.
Wow. Great comment. I hadn't thought about that aspect, but you've convinced me. I'll go shopping for a stainless revolver this weekend.
