Glock Perfection. Why not?

Some downsides...

Light primer strikes on G21 & G19, poor chamber support on Glock .40s, bad grip angle on all of them, ability to fire out of battery, no re-strike capability ('iffy' issue - but none the less), goofy trigger safety, poor grips, no decocker...

Objective data would help as the prime complaint seems to be "grip angle".

Has anyone ever MEASURED a grip angle and shown Glocks to be significantly different from whatever brand is preferreed? Not that I recall. And when one poster showed an overlap of the Glock and a 1911 (usually held up as the natural grip angle), demonstrating them to be almsot identical, the demurrers pointed out other things instead as the difference.

So frankly, at least as far as 1911s go as the comparator, I call BS on the grip angle per se being the issue. I know I switch from one to the other just fine personally, despite having smallish, thickish hands.

Glock's real strengths are reliability, simplicity and price IMO. They always go 'bang' without any funky decockers, thumb or grip safeties. Just pick it up, aim and fire. They don't require gobs of lube like 1911's. They're unbelievably easy to field strip and clean. Any required replacement parts are drop-in no fitting required. No worries about rust or fingerprint marks. The trigger works the same way all the time; no DA/SA transition. What's not to love?

One of the more annoying things about the gun community at large is this seeming inability to understand hyperbole.

If I say, "My backpack weighs a ton," it is a figure of speech. My backpack does not actually weigh 2000 pounds.

When some gun rag ad says, "Glock Perfection," they do not mean that Glocks are perfect for each and every one of us. It is a marketing slogan.

Please, I ask this as a personal favor. Give it a rest.

Things wrong with Glocks:
The trigger safety is annoying. The sights are kind of crude. The checkering on the grip is fairly worthless. Some models of Glock are oversprung from the factory, and reliability can suffer as a result. No ambidextrous magazine release is available. The inside of the magazine well has numerous sharp edges that can hang up an inserted magazine.

The biggest downside is Glock's inconsistent quality control. One can 'google' the following:

The Great Glock Recall of 1992 (400,000 pistols)
The E-Series Recall
The NYPD Glock 19 Problems (20,000 pistols)
The LAPD Glock 21 Problems

Not only is my G34 perfection, but its the pinnacle of perfection

hahahaha, it pains me to say it, but my G34 is one of my better shooters. That includes my Ed Brown 1911, three Sig 45s, and a closet full of Smiths. Now I have a G17, G19, and G26 to match. :D

Having said that, I don't believe the Glocks to be "perfect." They're just tools with no more emotional investment than my 22oz Estwing hammer.

If you're looking to be in love with a gun, go 1911, but be prepared for a rocky relationship. I have found the good times are worth the bad.

I suppose for someone who shoots competatively, grips angles and sights are extremely important. As one who used to use a weapon for a living, my department issued us an H&K 40. Decocker...safety...had to use a handcuff key to field strip it...stove-piped everyother magazine. One time a badguy came out of nowhere at me with a clawhammer. I thank God he saw my finger squeezing the trigger and dropped the clawhammer. He should thank God the damned safety was on. He lived to beat his wife another day. I know there is an aurguement that can be made that I instinctively should have took off the safety as I broke leather, but I didn't. I will never own a gun with a safety again.

Draw, aim, squeeze the trigger...BANG! So simple even I can do it. Perfection is in the eye of the beholder, and for the purposes one uses this particular type of tool for.

Okay, I own a G23 that I like alot.! I also own a Sig P228 and P220. That being said I find the Sig's more ergonomic then the Glock. I find both brands very accurate, reliable and each represent fine engineering. Just my .02 cents worth.

I have long fingers, but the G20/21 size is too big for me.
Much prefering the G17 sized G37 or the G30 in a Glock .45.

It doesn't seem to me that G30's grip is that much smaller than the G21, as they share the same magazines(G30 can use G21's mags). With A&G sleeve adapter the G30 grip looks the same as the G21, to me anyway...

Frankly, out of the "cheap, uber reliable plastic pistols".. I think the Walther P99 is so much better.. but that's just me.
