No fault of the gun, just the jackass owner. First time Glock owner (with brand new G17). Read manual, did field strip for initial cleaning. No problem. Reassembled slide and (don't ask me how) it got jammed in this position.

Don't want to force things so I'll take it back to the gun counter and maybe they can show me what the heck I did wrong. From the picture, did I wreck anything besides my pride? Hope Not.

P.S. The mag was out during field strip. It's in there now just to fit everything in the case.

Nothing should be hurt. Dryfire the gun if it will, pull down the takedown catch, pull slide off. You just stuck the slide on over top of the front frame rail inserts.

No, you overran the slide rail inserts, something thats relatively easy to do, and it looks like you hung up on the slide release somehow. Try gently but firmly canting the slide side to side while pushing it back, and maybe working the slidestop a little in the process........Good luck P.S. Thats not a loaded magazine is it?

No. empty mag. This was the initial cleaning on a brand new gun.

All fixed now. Navy joe, DENALI - thanks for your pointers.

Wait till you field strip your first Ruger Mark 1 and try to get it back together.
