How do you guys keep the standard white sights clean on your Glock? I was think of using rubbing alcohol and a Q-Tip? Yes/No?

By replacing it with a set of much needed metal nightsights.:p;)

Seriously, the Glock factory plastic sites can be cleaned after shooting just like the rest of the slide (I used to use a soft nylon toothbrush with some Hoppes or Outer's nitro solvent on it and give them a light shrubbing, then lightly wipe off the remaining solvent). The plastic sights are a little on the soft side for my tastes, so you don't want to brush or wipe them too hard, this is one of the reasons why a lot of Glock owners change out their factory plastic sights for metal ones soon after. I myself put Meprolight nightsights on all my Glocks, but there are a lot of other good NS manufactures out there, like Trijicon, TruGlo, Heine, etc.

I just wipe them off with a rag. Even with extended shooting sessions, they have never gotten bad enough to be an issue.

Steel night sites or just plain black steel sites would be a good upgrade though.

amen to that.

that is the first order of business with any glock, preferablly with xs 24/7 sights or trijicon three dot set up.

i just wipe the sights off with a rag, that is an issue with all the handguns that i own, wipping them off work just fine.

It's just normal for XD owner(or Glock owners) to suggest their brand of gun whenever the other is mentioned.:banghead:

You have gotten good advice on replacing the sights. The plastic ones are, how do I say this tactfully----------A Piece of Crap!!! I always figure the price of new sights into the purchace price of any new Glock. The stock front sight is easily removed with your fingers, and the rear is not much better. That gives you an idea of how durable they are. Replacement sights are available from a number of sources, I like "Lone Wolf Distribitors" for most things Glock.

The good news is: All you need is a hammer, a punch, and a 5/32 nut driver to replace the crappy stock sights on a Glock. I'm posting this information for all the Glockies out there that are laughing at the XD fanboys who have to send their pistols back for minor parts changes and replacement !:neener:
strickj knows what he's talking about! I had to use a very large:what: hammer to drift the rear sight on a 5" Tactical to adjust windage.:)

Turned out ok. Had a little marring from the punch. Touched it up with a black sharpie. It's hardly noticable. One of these days, I'm getting a sight pusher!!!

A great man once said, "Glock perfection ends at the top of the slide!"

While I can hit with them, I think the stock Glock sights are cheesy looking. Our Glocks are fitted with the following:

G21: Meprolight
G19: Trijicon
G17: Dawson Precision FO/ADJ

Next

G30: AmeriGlo Operator Green/Yellow

Brownells has several sight pushers available. There is one, costs about $100 that fits 99% of the guns out there. I have that one. Works great with my Glocks and several other guns I've tried. MGW has model specific pushers that are excellent as are older Glock brand pushers (when you can find them - the newer ones are somewhat looked down upon).

Thanks for the info Southpaw. I really need to get a pusher, I have installed probably half a dozen sets of sights in the past three months. A pusher sure would make it easier.
