There is a Glock in the local classifieds for sale for $300 with 2 mags, looks like a good buy but I know almost nothing about glocks or what to look for when buying one. Also, it said it is an "older model" but didn't give the model number. Caliber is 9mm. I have been told that you can send a glock back to the factory and they will put in any upgrades for free.

Ideas, suggestions?

Thanks

Yeah that's a decent buy because of several different reasons:

1.) Glock parts are easily available and cheap.
2.) Glock has great warranty service.
3.) You will not find many great polymer pistols for under $300.

Many people prefer the earlier generation Glocks (no finger grooves) to the third generation. I am one of those people.

I would assume that this is either a 17 (full size) or a 19 (compact[midsize]).

It wouldn't hurt to take a look.

For Christmas a few years ago, my father bought me a worn out Glock 22 (full size .40cal). It was obviously either a range gun or a police trade-in. The slide was worn from a lot of holster wear or handling. But it is still the best shooter in my polymer collection. The trigger is real nice and smooth as well. No telling how many tens of thousands of rounds have gone through that gun, and it still runs like a top. $323 he paid for that gun.

Well a 9mm Glock is going to be a 17/19/26 or 34. Sounds like a good price depending on condition. As long as the slide and frame are all right all other parts can be bought refurbished.

that sucks that someone snatched it up before yu could get it, that is a heck of a deal no matter what generation it was, i am sure that it was g2g sometimes people have stuff and don't know what they have or the right price to ask and they go low, lucky for us i guess.

"this is an '81 honda civic, the car that started it all. If you can find one for under 10 grand with these low miles, buy it!"

I just bought a gen 1 17 for 300. it's been carried and shot a lot, and is over 25 yrs old, but still shoots great and work fine. and I hear you can buy refurb glocks from cdnn for less than 400. so I hear.

I like the glocks without the finger grooves. Gen II, I have dropped my g-17 in a pond, and had to net it out, I have dropped it on concrete while chambered (had to put new sights) shot it 3000+ times, and it has NEVER failed. I understand the logic of the xd pistols, but I know that my glock is better than any autoloader that I heve ever shot. 1" patterns at 25 feet. All that anyone could ask for in a defense weapon. Not a "show off" or "pretty" gun, but a fine defense weapon.

But, but...plastic pistols aren't supposed to last that long! ;)
