Glock trying to compete with the Sig P365?

Count me in on waiting for all the issues of the P365 to be resolved. I for one have much appreciation for the P365's design. It's the functional problems that have kept me on the sidelines. Sure... some folks are gonna say that ALL the problems have DEFINITELY been fixed.

Been on Sigforum since 2002 and have had P220's, P226 Navys, P239's and truly have come to appreciate the alloy DA Sigs. But their P320 was loaded with problems and the P365 has had its share of... blemishes to Sig's reputation.

When the CEO came over from Kimber, things changed to polymer and striker fired... for the most part. Like I said, when I don't see the recurrent issues being posted on the forums, I will be a P365 buyer.

While some wait for perfection, thousands are out shooting the 365 and having a grand ole time without any issues. I have to laugh at any internet poster that claims Sig's reputation is tarnished. Maybe tarnished by a Glock owner, but every gun ever made is tarnished to them. And if anyone ever thinks Glocks are without problems, they not in touch with reality. Can't wait to be able to get the 320. Sorry, just do not buy into all the internet experts. Love listening to them but just don't take them seriously.

I think the trigger guard is cut higher on the 365 plus the grip directly behind it is recessed. The pictures don't show a large difference but my hand notices it. To me the grip feels swollen on the 43. Logic would seem my XL hands would fit the larger grip better but they don't. Sig magic or trick photography? He He He!

Tough seeing your pants on fire! My money, my choice. I'm carrying either a DW CCO 1911 ..45ACP or a Glock 19. I'm patient! And I'm not a P365 fanboy like others are!

Dedication is great. How many rounds have you put thru a 365?

Lol, what the heck are you talking about? My pants are not on fire, and I could care less about the 365, do not want one. No one gives a hoot what you carry. I just get tired of so much 365 bashing as I think the issues are totally blown out of proportion.
What does get my pants on fire is that over the years on the internet, when ever someone mentions a failure in a particular Pistol, the Glock owners are usually the one's to come out to bash the firearm and immediately start telling everyone that they will just continue to carry the Glock. Just as you did. Also Glock's also always gets a free ride. My God, the internet is full of failures with Glocks. Extraction issues, can't shoot hollow points, jams etc etc.etc.
And YES I put quite a few rounds through the 365, together myself and a few range buddies put a 1,000 rds. through the gun. Very Nice Pistol with a whole lot of quality. Just not for me. .

Lets see, they are taking their G43 that is already a fair bit bigger than the 365 and making it even bigger just to catch up to the 365. Brilliant. o_Oo_O

If what we are reading about is the gun they make, Glock will sell a ton of them and it will probably be one of the top 5 new pistols of 2019. Just like the 19X that no one wanted, they sold a ton (and it's now one of my top carry guns when I don't need P365 size). The 43X, yeah I'll probably buy one, why not, it's a good size and it's a Glock.

Question, do you think Glock should start fixing all the issues with the 43, before making a 43x.?

Appears to be ridden with problems.

I personally hope they do make it and Glock sells a zillion of them. In fact, I hope they sell so many it puts pressure on all other manufacturers that want to compete in this segment to improve upon what they make, design something better, or at least make prices drop on what they have. Anytime gun makers want to innovate and try new stuff is all right by me. Personally I don't see where this gun would benefit me in any way but Im certain Glock didn't have me in mind when they penciled the new idea.

If they can make a better mousetrap Im on board. I love my 365 but Im not married to it and if someone comes up with something better for me, Im there. My 365 is my 4th different carry piece and every time I changed it was to go to something better for me. First ever carry gun was a Glock 26. It never failed me and I learned a lot with it, but at the end of the day in order to be able to carry 99.9% of the time I need to be able to pocket carry. Next carry gun was a Beretta Nano. It never failed me but I found out I could shoot a Sig 938 much faster and more accurately due to the better trigger and ergonomics. Was totally satisfied until the 365 was introduced, and now I have a gun that I can shoot even better than my 938 and as an added bonus carries substantially more ammo in basically the same size package. Due to the physical restraints for guns in this size I would be shocked if you could increase capacity in this size gun but if it is more shootable, I don't mind switching to something else, including a Glock.

I have a little over 4000 rounds through my 365 as of now, have shot 2 IDPA matches and a steel challenge match with it. It has never failed me so far, and it just plain fits my hand like they had me in mind when they designed it. It is more shootable for me than some full size guns I have shot, and at the end of the day, for a personal defensive weapon that's the name of the game. Carry whatever you want, just make sure its the best fit for you.

If it's as big as a 6+1 G36 .45 ACP?

I'll stick w/ the 6+1 G36 .45 ACP.

As for SD ammo capacity?

1. It's a .45 ACP.
2. That's why they make spare mags.

GR

I would upgrade that to 30S. That is among the best .45ACP CC pistols available. The 43x will be 9x19 version of G30S.

The gun may be interesting. I'd wait a year to get one. I bought one of the first G42s and it was a horror. It runs now after a trip back. I saw a 365 run just fine a week ago.

A thinner alternative to the 26 might be fun. However, I found that moving to the G42 takes a little tune up in grip hold. My first run with one was horrendous until I settled my grip. I can move between the 26, 19, or 17 without much problem.

We will see.

Also, I'm deleting the silly crap.

Well said. Gun manufacturers are businesses, and I can guarantee you that they've noticed the success Sig has had with the P365. Some will develop a gun that competes with it. If the P365 is right for you as it is me, great. If the 43X is a better alternative, get it. The gun industry is not a one size fits all industry, and as mentioned above the more options, the better.

I took a leap of faith and bought an October-dated 365.

My Kahr K9 was my daily carry for years but I kept questioning why such a hand filling gun would only use a single stack mag. Heck, even a 1.5 stack would be an improvement.

My first 'favorite' after renting a few was the 938 and I was all gung-ho on getting one...until I held a 365. It feels almost exactly like the Kahr, but 12+1 and lighter. So far I have ~400 rounds through it, zero issues.

I will say though the mag release is weird. It wraps forward as if they were trying to make it aerodynamic.

Glad you're enjoying your 365, but Sig is the new kimber over here.

It's weird how SIG gets every free pass on this forum.

Lol, (actually laughing) Can Glock owners even read? I do NOT own a Sig. Do not want a 365. For God Sake this is actually funny. And if a Glock owner thinks the 365 is getting a "Free Pass". Then, well, it says a whole lot about them. Similar to folks that think CNN is real news.

Read through some of the threads on this forum regarding the P365 and you'll see that Sig has gotten anything but a free pass. I went with the P365 because I need to pocket carry due to a back and neck injury which for now prohibits me from carrying IWB. Capacity is important as while I live in a safe part of the Chicago area, we still have crime here. The last few crimes in the suburb I live in have all been committed by a carload of 4 guys, a car jacking, attempted robbery in which they shot the person they were robbing and an attempted robbery. Facing multiple attackers here is not uncommon, and 13 rounds is obviously preferable to 7 or 8 when in that situation. I wasn't happy having to spend over $100 replacing the striker and trigger bar spring on my P365, the two common points of failure, but did so because the gun was exactly what I was looking for. I've had 1 failure to go into battery with almost 2000 rounds through mine. It works for me. Glock makes great guns as do a number of other manufacturers, and if one of them works for people who are uncomfortable with the P365 that's what they should get.

That cut and the faint finger groove just underneath really help you get a grip on the 365 with the ring from your index finger to thumb. For some reason this really helps controllability for me.

I waited nearly a year for SIG to shake out the problems with the 365 before I picked one up. Mine is rock solid and amazingly accurate for such a tiny gun in my size xxxxl hands. More choices are great, if SIG pushed others to innovate, we all win.

How about the day after Beretta fixes breaking firing pins on Pico? Unlike Beretta, SIG at least took steps to fix the pins on P365. And Beretta's answer is, just keep spare pins and don't dry-fire the gun.
