Glocks...Should I buy into the ugliness??

I admit my gun collection would feel incomplete with just plain jane Glocks. But aside from the revolvers, the Glocks get almost all the range time.

In slow, aimed fire, Glocks don't do anything special. But when you start punching out the center of your targets with a rapid-fire mag dump, you'll be hooked on Glock for good. I almost can't help pulling the trigger again as soon as the sights bounce back on target.

With my conventional semiautos, I feel like I'm reacting to the gun's recoil. It's something I have to work around. I feel like my Glocks are reacting to me. The recoil is something that I initiate and control. This is partly because they have the most consistent and predictable trigger of any gun I've fired.

I own two Glocks, some Ruger wheel guns, a Smithy and assorted rifles.

By FAR, my favorite to shoot is my Glock g29 10mm! Of all my guns, the
only ones that I wouldn't trade are my Glocks (G22 and G30) and my 1976 Ruger Single Six 22WMR.

Everyti8ng else could be swapped or bartered for.

Just my two cents.

Then again, I don't have a 1911 yet :)

IMO I think Glock pistols are uglier than sin. The only thing uglier is a High Point. Plus I don't like shooting them. However, that being said, they are a good weapon. I just don't like them.

You can get pretty or believe it or not uglier guns that work just aswell, my advice is go to a gunshop and try all the autos they have for the one that fits your hand the best. If Glocks fit my hand that I would like them but they don't and the SIG P220 does.

I find all pistols to be ugly. The Glock is just more of a "squre box" that's all.

I just picked up a near new Glock 22 4 mags a Glock 17 conversion barrel and 4 boxes of .40 S&W for $450

The sexiest auto I have ever seen was 9x19 from Steel City Firearms? of Pittsburgh PA with svelte round slide. Very simple elegant design with clean rounded lines.

I just have to say, get off the fence! This is how it went for me. I turned 21 and wanted a handgun. I new what I wanted when I went to the gun store and was dead set against buying one of those silly, ugly plastic guns. However they offered to show me one. I said "oh, I suppose" Needless to say I bought a Glock 23, Then so did my dad. Then I bought a second one, my friend bought a G22 and my wife ended up with a G23. all because I looked at the one gun, against my wishes. Now I have a Gen 4 G17 too. Love it!

My point is, check'em out, buy one you like and give it a try. My guess is it will slowly become the main gun you shoot and you will have to buy more. I absolutely suggest the G23/19 sized pistol because, as previously mentioned, they are the best looking. And I also suggest gettin it in the Gen 4 version,. that will give you a better chance of getting it to feel great in your hand.

Pick up the Glock annual at a local magazine store and read thru it. Also consider the GSSF program if you like the idea of a simple way to compete and improve your shooting as well as the chance to buy a Glock at a great discount.

Glocks are hard to beat when you add it all up. Relatively inexpensive, proven, accurate, reliable, nearly indestructible, high capacity, GSSF benefits, light weight, tons of aftermarket support, simple operation, low maintenance, good support, etc. They are like potato chips, you can't have just one! And if you don't like it, you will be able to sell it.

Yes, you should, if nothing else, get it out of your system; I've noticed I seem to always own at least one, and while it doesn't have the same place in my heart as some guns do, its' like a woman you always go back to, tho you can never figure out why!
Cheers, TF
Who just bought a Glock 20 and I think my fourth 21 (Gen 2 at that; hate the fingergrooves); will never own another 30, though I'm intrigued by the 29 and 23!
Cheers, TF

Glocks are beautiful in their simplicity. Buy one and you will know true peace

I like all of my Glocks; and I have several. The only time I have ever had a failure with them is when I try to tap in a totally full magazine in one of the sub-compacts and did not tap it in hard enough. I think reliable functionality is beautiful and therefore I think my Glocks are much more beautiful than my 1911s (finnicky things those, a slight bend on the lips or follower in the magazine and it fails, dirty? it is likely to fail, etc.).

Someone once said that reliable pistols are pretty pistols. Using that criteria, Glocks are the prettiest pistols in my collection.

For a long time, I resisted liking Glocks. I didn't want to drink the kool aid. But the hype is true... legendary reliability, ruggedness.

I personally say give glock a chance. The only thing I regret about glocks is letting there looks keep me away from them for years. I now have three and they all function perfectly and shoot a lot better than I can shoot them.

well so many glock fans admit glock look is a negative, only after so much torture they finally convince themselves glock is pretty by other merits :D

what i don't get is why glock doesn't want to make it prettier to begin with, it's easy and won't break the bank :D

I think they're cool looking. If you want a very high likelihood of a rock-solid pistol straight out of the box, Glock would be a good choice.

If this isn't going to be a carry gun, the FNP 45 is a great gun. Mine is the USG (gov't model) so it has an external safety so you can carry it cocked and locked like a 1911. Also came with 2 14rd mags and 1 15rd mag. They are the same price as the XDm. DSC00404.jpg
