Glove box gun?

I carry my gun in the car/truck not on my person. If I need it I do not want it to be locked in a safe, the same with my HD weapon.

Pretty sure the safe is for when you leave your gun in your car. Not while you are in your car.

If I can't leave my gun in an unattended vehicle I had just as well leave it at home.

Either way, you are unarmed.

My system works for me. Something else may work better for others. I keep my weapon where I can access it at any time without having to remember to un-lock it.

Currently, I keep a cheap Nagant Revolver in the cargo pouch behind my passenger seat. It's easily reached if I need it, out of sight behind maps and folders and stuff, and cheap enough to replace if it gets stolen.

Of course, this ease of access is going to change up once my baby comes along and grows into a toddler with curious fingers. However, i'm pretty much armed with my EDC CCW 24/7 if I'm in my truck.

Good advice all around. Depending on your car gives you some different options. I occassionally use a cheap one gun lock box with the security cable wrapped around my seat frame and slide the whole thing under the seat.

I had a F150 that had a flow through center console with the automatic tranny shifter. With that truck you could pull up on the plasitc cover housing the shifter and there was a very convienient space that fit a small pistol and kept it secure away from any moving parts. Very stealthy and quick to access as I was getting out of the truck.

If the weapon is going to stay in the car and you aren't at all times you could consider a small carbine. I'm currently trying to find a Kel Tec SUB 2000 9mm carbine that folds in half. Great firepower and stows away easilyand can be brought to bear with much more effect than a pistol. You should be able to find them used for around $300.
