I have a couple of 40 S&W pistols and a 357 SIG. I wanted a 9mm and recently bought a KAHR PM9. I like it for carry, but it is just OK in the accuracy department. I was thinking of a CZ 75 P-01 for a 9mm to plink with but I've heard that the trigger is rather stiff. Does anyone have any input on the CZ P-01 trigger. Is there another 9mm that would be good to consider?

There isn't a range close by with a good assortment of pistols to rent. Thanks for your input.

CZ's are nice and break-in well with use (trigger will smooth-out), and quuite 'tuneable'. I have a PCR that's real sweet (I also own 4 SIG's, 2 H&K, a couple Kimbers, a Kahr, Walter, Beretta, . . . ). IMO, CZs are world class handguns and can compete well with SIGs, Walther, et al; and are a very good value. The P-01 is a compact - is that what you're after or do you want to consider a full size 9mm? CZ still is a great choice, but then again so are SIGs, BHP, Beretta -

Do the SEARCH thing, there's no shortage of opinion on what's he best 9mm of any size here. Good luck>

I had a P9 covert that I traded up for a G26 so I guess that would be one of my suggestions. The covert recoiled like my 642 with +P rounds. It was downright uncomfortable to shoot when it actually did work (it had a 22-25% failure rate). I really don't think you can go wrong with the CZ either. But by getting the P-01, I would lay odds that you'll ditch your PM9 for carry and strap on the CZ instead. You might look into getting a full sized CZ. I'm in the market for another 9mm and am either looking at a single action CZ-75 or a Browning/FN Hi Power. I want to go with a full sized 9mm because I don't want to be tempted to carry it.

Flip.

I was using a G26 as a carry handgun until I bought a CZ PO1, now the glock is in the safe...........

I love my Glock 26 but I also love shooting with the PO-1. I knew I shouldn't have touched my friend's PO-1. I might buy one after I've saved a few bucks. The PO-1 is very accurate and didn't have any problems after shooting it for a couple hundred rounds.

I have both the full-sized CZ 75B and the P-01 and actually find the P-01 slightly more comfortable to shoot and a bit more accurate, though both are excellent in that regard. Good trigger, IMO, and my P-01 has a Hogue grip sleeve, which may help a bit. I think the CZs are an excellent value.

I bet my life on my PO1 every day. Outstanding pistol, best value I have ever found, bar none. Accurate, reliable, durable, NATO certified, my fave. Easy to conceal in a good IWB, as well.

The CZ P01 is one of my favorite guns. It's accurate, reliable, compact, and has a nearly perfectly contoured grip. Like a lot of new guns it comes out of the box with a pretty gritty trigger. First thing I did when I got mine was to buy a few sturdy snap caps (the one that came with the gun looked pretty wimpy). After an hour or so of dry firing, the trigger was much better.

You can break the trigger in with live rounds, but, if you've got an hour to kill, you can do so before you take the gun on its inaugaral shoot.

One thing to note is that the firing pin is retained by a roll-pin. Supposedly the roll pin can break, which may be why CZ supplies a snap cap with the gun. Though the risk is probably small, don't dry fire it without a snap cap.

Well, Ive had 23+ CZ's.........I love the PO1 and SA the best. I carry a hybrid PCRO1.......PO1 frame and PCR slide.
Ive had Sigs, STI's, Kahrs, Beretta's, S&W's, Kimbers.........all great guns but I will always have a CZ or two.
Get the PO1.....the trigger will smooth out soon enough and you can cut down/replace the main spring for a lighter trigger.
Shoot well................
I make more PO1 leather than any other gun............that says alot.

I just wanted to say thanks to all for your replies. You convinced me!! I'm going to order the CZ P-01 today. --- BTW for the comments on the G26, one of the 40 S&W I have is a G27 (which I really like) so I wanted to go in a different direction for this purchase. I'm excited -- Thanks again,

Will CZ ever make a single-action (or at least cocked-and-locked capable) version of P0-1? I know there is the 75 Compact, but P0-1 has new features, including "improved metallurgy."

If gritty trigger pulls really bother you, don't do it. Although I have to admit, I love my P-01 and would never part with it. The trigger does get better over time, so just buy some snap caps and practice your dry firing skills until the trigger smoothes out a bit. Although accuracy is really good, I take the CZ for what it is; a military/police pistol, and not a target pistol. Some shooters will hate the P-01, but for me the utter reliability and ergonomics make up for the less than stellar trigger.

The CZ 75 Compact is the same size, but heavier. I much prefer it because of the cocked and locked capability, which gives you an excellent single action trigger out of the box. I happily accept the weight to get the trigger. Too bad CZ doesn't offer the P-01 with the Compact's SA arrangement.

The P-01 does feel great in the hand, but the all-steel Compact has the same ergonomics.

Sold my CZ 75

and could kick myself for it. Good pistol for it's purpose. Triggers are indeed not stellar, but very manageable. Just my opinion, but if it's a D.A., why would you need to carry in condition one? I carry this way, but with a S.A.
