The title says it. i saw, on a different forum, someone mention Duluth Bags for somthing or other, and it got me to thinking. most of the stuff on Duluth Bags are rather pricey (get what you pay for, but sometimes it just can't be afforded) and i don't know about the inside - they were somewhat lacking in that area.

So: what do you suggest, in the ~$50 range? standard backpack? or somthing more "advenced" with multiple pockets, etc.?

If you plan on walking, get a backpack.

Try something in the 2,500 to 3,000 cubic inch capacity range like this from Campmore.

OK, it's a little more than $50.00 but I have been using their packs for twenty years, they are very well made. At 29 inches long you could even stash a Kel-Tech SU-16 or I believe a mini-30 with a folding stock inside. :evil:
It's even got a compartment for a hydration system.

Definitely get some kind of backpack. It's the most comfortable way to carry a load and leaves your hands free.

FWIW, BOB/SHTF threads have been deemed off-topic in this forum, so if this one gets locked, you're welcome to continue the discussion in the Emergency Preparedness forum at The Rally Point.

I just got a Swiss Army Backpack from my local Sportsmans warhouse. THis thing has like 30 pockets and zipper areas and is heavly padded, waterproof, and has a lifetime warranty. Its setup for heavy carry ergonomics and is really nice and comfy to wear. I got a few things in there now, but im still building my BOB.

I only paid 24.99 for it!

BOB = Bug Out Bag

It's a grab-and-go bag you keep around in case you need to leave RIGHT NOW and don't have time to pack things up.

I have 3 different sizes. A medium sized fanny pack (get home), a medium sized backpack (day trips) and a large backpack (bug out).

They are for different uses. You can never have only one. ;)
