OK, I got my Seecamp back (it was sent out for failure to feed & the trigger being very sluggish) and went to the range today, heres how it went.
I began w/ the Silvertips and through the first couple of mags it had a few failure to feed the next round, the slide would get stuck when the round was stuck at the feed ramp. I figured I had to be limp wristing, so I just switched to shooting w/ one hand only. Because I figure if I use only one hand it will have to be a very tight grip, and after I shot a total of about 80 rounds, I didn't have one problem. I even did a few mags w/ my left hand only also.
I bought some Gold Dots to try out, and all 20 of those went off w/o a problem as well.
Next I tried the Cor Bons, and immediately you could SEE the difference literally because of the flame that these rounds produce. The recoil was increased, but it was still very manageable. I shot a total of 60 rounds with the Cor Bon, and my 2nd to last round did not feed and got stuck in the same way as above (this was also left hand). Now I wish it had been 100%, BUT I had fired approx another 75 rounds of .45 before the Seecamp, and spent 2 hours there. Oh yeah, and the Cor Bons cut my hand at the web and the underside of my trigger finger. So if you factor in all that working against me, I figure maybe I shouldn't count that as a failure???
Now about 1/2 the time I went to change the mag with the Cor Bons I noticed the floor plate to the mag had come loose and worked its way about 1/8 inch forward. The mag was still seated, and didn't cause any failures, so I guess I'm not too worried about that. Another thing was the pin located on the left side just above the trigger holds down the draw bar cover, and by the end that had been slightly dislodged and moved outward from the gun.
So looking back...after I had corrected my limp wristing the gun was 100% reliable if you don't count that one at the end which was most likely due to me being tired (and my chewed up hand in pain). TELL ME WHAT ARE YOUR OPINIONS ON THIS? THE GUN HELD UP FOR 60 ROUNDS OF COR BON, DO YOU THINK 7 ROUNDS SHOULD FLY OK?
Next time I shoot I plan on putting a few mags of the Silvertip through it just to make sure all is OK, and maybe a few Cor Bon rounds too (only have 20 left, gotta get more). MY GOAL WAS #1 TO SEE IF THE GUN FUNCTIONED ALL AROUND, AND #2 WAS TOO SEE IF COR BON WOULD FEED FINE. I think the Cor Bon has no problems with feeding, and now that I know it does feed OK, I don't plan on subjecting it to the hotter round routinely. I'm also gonna try and post some photos of the gun, overall & that floor plate moving forward.
