Good "quiet" Brake for my AR?

a 300 WSM custom carbine, a 18-20" barrel with a brake on it!

I refuse to have brakes or porting on field guns. I don't wear ears when hunting, and one or two rounds out of a centerfire rifle in the open woods, combined with the physiological auditory exclusion, doesn't even make my ears ring. But I can't even imagine how obnoxious my 8mm mag or .375 RUM would be with a brake, given their very high operating pressures and burning 80-100 grains of powder.

Battlecomp or Knight's Triple Tap.
Have you shot through a Dynacomp yet?

The Noveske Flaming Pig and AAC Brake Cover work too but are bulkier and heavier (around 8oz).

I've got the equally heavy PWS dog-knots on 2 subcarbines. I try to think of them it as inertial recoil dampeners. :D

OK Sam, so lets assume for a split second that someone was so recoil shy that they needed a brake to keep their 22 caliber on target running pro 3 gun matches, how does that translate to rookies who fumble trying to load a mag needing one to sight in a high power scope off a bench? If they were such a huge advantage for follow up shots why don't I ever hear my friends in the Rangers and SF talking about how they need them? I have never seen an issued M16 or M4 with a brake on it, have you? Have you ever served before?

+1 on the battlecomp. It's the compromise between noise and comp. It has the same noise as a A2 flash hider.

Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2

Heavy barrel (HBAR) with a good crown. It will reduce muzzle climb, improve accuracy and not increase noise. If threaded, you could still add a suppressor.

Simple is still best.

Recoil Shy?

Any cat that is issued a suppressor is probably going to have a brake beneath it since the suppressor negates the need for a flash hider.

Have you ever served before?
Yes, I made coffee for a house guest the other night, but I fail to see how that is germane.

I can't believe there's people on here complaining about 223 muzzlebreak noise?!

You haven't heard a loud muzzle break until you are working the A-gunner position on a DShK. That thing will just about give you a nosebleed from back pressure.

This one is no slouch either.

Sam that is not a brake that is a flash hider, big difference there. Anyway you have STILL yet to expain it to me how a rookie needs a noise maker on their AR. Face it for the most part they exist only to make a bunch of noise, annoy fellow shooters, and look "tacticool" they have at very very best a bare minimal practical application (and I doubt even that), unless you enjoy hurting people's ears.

Negative. That is an AAC brake on the carbine. The SPR has this brake:

They can call that a brake all they want to but look at the gas ports, that is a flash hider I don't care what name they slap on it, not that anyone would ever notice the difference on a 5.56 anyway that can call it what they want. I am sorry but if you need a brake to shoot a 5.56 accurately you are a recoil wimp, and this coming from a guy who is well known for his love of sissy kickers :D

It is not the brakes that annoy me so it is the people you use them to irritate fellow shooters. Now Sam I am sure you are not one of those jerks that does that even if I do give you hell over your doodads, but understand there are quite a few people who do, and it has left a bad taste in my mouth with the brakes, I have grown to really hate those blasted things. On several occasions they have urked me off enough to make me want to have an "accidental discharge" right over the top of their head with my 270 WSM and a full stick charge of RL 22 to give them a taste of their own medicine for once. Common sense people if you have an obnoxious loud firearm nobody at the range want you to show it off to them, if there are other shooting lanes open use those, don't sit right next to the only other person on the line and run them off, on crowded days I understand.

uhhhh...Which one do you think is a flash hider again? ...and how is it you think flash hiders work exactly?
That second picture does not look like a brake it looks like this flash suppressor for an AK47, from that angle anyway.

I guess some people prefer to pay extra for something to add on to the wrong rifle than to just get the right gun to begin with.

I bet if you made a 17 HMR AR 15 every mall ninja would still have to have a brake on it talking about followup shots. LMAO I like ARs I even like some aftermarket optics, but some of this is simply laughable. You know how to find the best AR shooter on the range, find the one with the fewest useless gadgets on his rifle, works every time :D

Incorrect sir that is a K7 flash suppressor.

Flash hider on the right, дульного тормоза-компенсатора on the left.*

*anyone else find that the only place they ever use certain facets of their inordinately expensive education is the internet?
