Here is the deal. I want a varmint rifle chambered in .22-250. I would prefer that it be a heavy barrel and fluted if possible. I also like stainless/synthetic. I have been looking at the Winchester Coyote Lite, Remington 700 VSSF II, and the Weatherby Accurmark. What other options are out there or what else do you recommend? I am especially concerned about the trigger. I like light triggers. I have a few Winchester M70's. They are the ones that they used to sell at Walmart for $400. The triggers are crisp, but they feel like I have to really squeeze before they will break. Are the triggers on the rifles that I mentioned any better? Thanks.

Fluting is primarily decoration. You'll never shoot a varmint rifle fast enough for long enough for the heat dissipation to matter.
"...feel like I have to really squeeze before they will break..." All new rifles require a trigger job due to frivolous law suits. Change the springs.
Winchester Coyote Lite(a modified/updated M70), Rem 700 and Weatherby Mk V triggers are user adjustable.
"...What other options are out there..." Savage 12 series. Best bang for your buck. Have a look at the FVSS. http://www.savagearms.com/centerfire_home.htm

My understanding is that fluting is more for reducing weight than for dissipating heat, although I suppose it does that too, to some extent. The way I had it put to me is that heavy, fluted barrels have almost as much stiffness as same-sized unfluted ones, but with a good deal less weight.

"...fluting is more for reducing weight..." Doesn't reduce the weight by much. Certainly not enough to matter. Theory is that it increases the surface area and acts like a radiator. Just like the fins on an SMG/LMG barrel. Fins and fluting cost more to make.

I have a Savage LRPV in 22-250 and the trigger needs nothing.Got a smokin deal for $699 the trigger is adjustable and comes with the tool for the adjustments.

It is stainless/syn. and isn't a pack gun. it is heavy bout 15lbs with scope and bipod

If you are willing to wait it out you can find somebody selling a Remington model 700 and buy it for the action. then build of of it.

How slick are the actions of the Savage Rifles when compared to Remingtons and Winchesters?

The CZ rifle has the feature of the detachable box magazine. You can even use the 10 rounders from the CZ750 rifle if you get the 22-250. Laminated, plastic, or traditional walnut. Cold hammer forged barrel. Adjustable set trigger. Really a nice rifle.

I love mine, tho it is 308 not 22 250.

Check out the Ruger KM77 VT BBZ MKII in .22-250 it's not fluted but it's on heck of a rifle with one of the best triggers on a production rifle, better than ANY Savage Accu-Trigger and I own 3 Savage Accu-trigger Rifles and 1 Ruger VT, the Ruger VT trigger is in the the same class with Timmney or Jewell, it is fully adjustable 3 ways and lets off with less creep than the Savages, and the Ruger Vt I own is sub-moa .

I would consider a cz as long as you dont want to shoot over 55 grain projectiles. the single set trigger is really good. I set up a friends one and it was about 4 ounce when set. straight out of the box with hand loads the laminated varmint will shoot half inch groups
