SOG is selling police turn in GP100's with a holster and a speedloader and speedloader pouch for $229. The holster was very used but perfectly servicable. The speedloader is a safariland and it and the pouch were new.

I ordered one in through my FFL and picked it up yesterday.

Its a 4" with fixed sights and is DAO, has a bobbed hammer. It has the shorter rubber grips with the wood inserts.

Nice pistol. Typical holster wear but I used flitz and removed most of the wear marks with very little effort. The lock up is not perfect but it is servicable.

I can't wait to get out and shoot it. I need to find some Jordan Trooper style grips for it and its everything Bill Jordan recommended.

I've seen a few of these at gunshows. Weren't they Canadian trade-ins? IIRC they had very nifty looking half-shroud barrels. Lockup on the few examples I've handled has been very good. They've all had lots of holster wear (police holsters are usually very unkind to finishes), but a small container of Mother's paste metal polish takes care of those in no time flat. I almost bought one, as the prices are very good for their condition, but I really wanted a 3 inch and ended up buying one of theose new. Enjoy your find.

Got one just like that. Mine cleaned up to like-new condition with a bit of polishing. The grip has taken some abuse that didn't clean up as well, but if it continues to bother me I'll just get a replacement.

You did get a good deal. Enjoy!

This picture would not impress Mr Hart.............

I am really happy about how well it cleaned up. There were a lot of holster wear marks on it. Most of them came off with just a hand application of flitz. The rest came out with a low speed dremel and a little chrome polish.

Got a Hume Jordan holster on the way.

Now I have to find large wood grips or save up to get some made. Herrett's has what I want but they think highly of them!

Darn! I didn't get a speedloader and pouch with mine.

That's exactly the same pistol & holster though.

I am on a sales trip through Colorado this week. When I got into Grand Junction Tuesday afternoon I took a ride out to the BLM property below the Bookcliffs. Besides being beautiful there is a public rifle range and a pistol range there.

I had brought the GP100 and a hundred rounds of ammo. 50 rounds of Federal Nyclad .38 special +p+ and 50 rounds of a 158 grain jacketed hollow point that I had loaded to a grain under Elmer Keith full house loads.

All I can say is wow, this thing shoots nice.

The .38 rounds were very mild, I was quite surprised as they are 158 grain bullets but the recoil was just not significant.

The hand loads were stout but still very comfortable to shoot. I will go ahead and create some full house rounds now and then see how I like those.

After I get some larger grips I am sure it will be even easier to shoot. The DAO trigger is smooth enough to shoot without throwing my aim. I am sure with a little more practice that I can be quite accurate with this gun.

Every time I think I have found perfection in a pistol, I discover a new level of perfection! This 4 inch pistol is about perfect for me. Now I understand why everyone that has one of these or a 686 class Smith likes them so much.

Looks like a very practical piece. I believe that it was SOG that I got two 4" stainless Service Sixes in .357 much like that for around $180 apiece. Pretty much all you need and nothing you don't.

Contrast that to the cost of the bottomfeeder gun of the month on the covers of the gun rags. The difference in cost will buy a lot of ammo and proficiency.
