This is one of the best gun stories I've ever heard.
My Garand stock looks like the one you got traded, and I like it that way. I'd check the OP rod too, BTW.
Remember: There are no thieves at the CMP. Just guys tryin' to get their stuff back.
Hey Nugilum......Since you are upset about the stock you have, lets trade. I have a stock which makes the one you have pictured look new. Then at least one of us would be happy.
There was a sociable friendly local bicycle enthusiast in my town who was eventually found to be breaking and entering, stealing other people's bikes, and selling them to fund his own bike hobby. There are dishonest people out there, and they're into the same things everyone else is into.
Did you tell anyone you had the rifle in your car while at the CMP?
i live 20 miles east of dallas, and therefore unfortunately know how hot it was when you were here. one day in mid august i was working in arlington, and it was 114 degrees in the shade.
the answer?
that burned looking, dried up old stock IS YOUR STOCK!!!! (hard baked in a 160degree car)
Ya but did the thief remove their bicylce wheels and install old ones in their place??????????
I might halfway believe this if someone stole the whole rifle or if the stock they tock was worth more than the one they left.
Well I finished restoring the stock I was given by a friend. I now have the new-to-me Winny stock on my Win-13, and moved the Boyd stock from that Win-13 to the Springfield. So I now have my "beater" back and I'm ready to play again. It took seven weeks to get my toy back in working order. And got my Win-13 closer to being correct.
I never found out what happened concerning the switch-a-roo. I still have that stock but it's just sitting here. I enjoy used stocks (far more than the Boyd stocks) but that one for some reason just gives me the heebeejeebees. Will I ever see that missing Boyd stock again? I'm suspecting not.
Lets chop this one up as one of the weirdest experiences of my life (sadly this isn't the weirdest) and move on.
