I took "Blue" 3M painters tape and just covered the whole top, the ran a thin razor knife (the kind wallpapers use) around the bushing, and pulled the rest off, you'll find there is a small gap there so it guides real easily Funny thing, I cleaned the top with acetone and then just sprayed it. I left it mounted and just used newspaper and taped my bench. After the first couple passes the little dimples in the casting started to pinhole, so I let it set for about 25 min and the resprayed it pretty heavy to fill them in, because of the extra heavy spray job, it wrinkles and almost perfectly matches the kind-of hammered powder coat on the rest of the press! It takes a few days before it is completely hard.
added these photos, just cut around the bushing and peel off. I just stuck these back on for photo.
