Well, after a week, I picked up my CZ-70 on Friday. I have not had a chance to get range time yet, but when I do I'll collect the basic data on it. With tax and all I paid about $110 for the little pistol. When I got it home, I disassembled it and cleaned it inside and out. There was a little powder residue in the chamber, but other than that it seems fine. I've wanted one for a while and happened on it at a gun-and-pawn at a great price, so I thought I would take it. Any ammo preferences? I bought a box of S & B FMJ ammo for it, but I was going to try one of the defense loads as well.

Congratulations! I love my CZ-70. It's a very accurate and reliable pistol.

The S&B seems to shoot accurately in mine. Dynamit-Noble and Fiocci are also good ammo. I prefer European ammo in both my CZ-70 and my PP. The U.S. 32ACP seems anemic to me.

Certainly a personal preference, but I use FMJ exclusivly in my 32ACP handguns. I just don't trust those light little .32 HPs to penetrate sufficiently.

I like my CZ70 a lot. The pistol is strange, however, in that it will not operate correctly with anything BUT hollowpoints. The length of FMJ bullets, American and European, seem to cause failures to feed. Now I only use Fiocchi semi-jacketed hollowpoints.

That's unusual Benton. Usually the reverse is true. 32ACP HPs are often considered to be prone to rimlock due to the shorter OAL.

If I load HPs into the mags carefully, my '70 has no trouble with either, although the only HPs I've tried are the Fiocchi.

I've got one, too.

It's a lot of fun, and it's accurate, but the double action trigger pull is about 500 tons and gritty as hell.

The controls are also very tight.

Odd disassembly, too.

I'm going to do some work on mine to see if I can reduce the trigger pull.

That was my gripe, the 60lb Bolshevik trigger pull. I cleaned the action with some silicon lube and it helped a little, but it could use fine tuning.

Yea, DA is stiff on these. Like the Walther PP, it's the design, there's probably nothing you can do to give it a sweet DA.

Mine's got a really nice single action trigger though. I just treat it like an SA only. The nice thing about these is, like most DA/SA CZs you can carry them "cocked and locked".

I love mine.

It is by far the cheapest pistol I own, but it goes bang every time. I picked mine up from Aim Surplus a few years ago, for about $89.00. The trigger doesn't bother me to much, because I shoot it like a single action.:D

BA ha ha ha ha ha ha :D ROFLMFAO :D

Leave it to CZ to reverse the typical failure issue....and your complaining?

What nerve? :neener:

Shoot well

Boy is this an understatement! I can barely pull the trigger with both hands on mine in DA. SA is actually decent. I tried clipping a few coils off the hammer spring and it did make it a little lighter, but not by much. I put another stock one back in and resigned myself to SA only. If you take the hammer spring out, there is a little flat spring/clip that is under the spring and held in place by the retainer, that keeps the mag from falling free when the release is pushed. If you leave it out, the mag will drop free when you hit the release. I also replaced the grips with the CZ50 type grips. They dont have that sharp radius in them and are more comfortable to me. The spring in the mag that came with the gun was shot when I got it, as were the ones in the two I got elsewhere. It would not feed reliably from any of them with more than 3-4 rounds in the mag. Wolff just happens to make a spring for them and sells them in a three pack for around $20. Once I replaced them, it feeds a full mag fine. I also filed a small, half caliber radius on the front edge of the mags and this seems to help feed hollow points a lot better, although they are still spotty in my gun and it definitely likes the FMJ the best. Accuracy wise, mine likes the Winchester "white box" the best, but he Remington "yellow" box is definitely hotter.
