Well after the dreaded 10 day wait I finally picked up my new Heritage .22lr/.22mag. I was on the edge about buying one but I decided to anyways. On first inspection I was fairly impressed. I mean hey the finish is not great but once I got it home and ran a silicone rag over it the finish did not look as bad as I remember. I checked all the functions and swapped cylinders and re checked functions and everything seems to be great. I spent a couple of hours fooling around with my new purchase and could not be more pleased. I am going to the range tomorrow to see how she shoots. I have to say for $199 brand new I could not be more happy. I will give you all an update after my range visit.

We got ours on sale about a year ago, slow to reload, we like the old gate style for plinking. Works pretty good with birdshot rounds too. I think you will find it pretty accurate for an old replica revolver. It is also a handy little squirrel getter (dinner).

Congrats on the new toy, They are great plinkers, cheap to shoot and fun at the range or out in the woods.

I bought one and the front sight was canted to one side. Had the shop I got it from replace it and got another lemon.

I traded it off at a loss for some reloading equipment. Next one for me will be a single six, no exceptions.

Hope you have better luck with yours! Even though mine was so far off, I still shot it for a half box or so, just cause it was a good time. The "colt clicks" are a nice touch.

I'd buy one if I really needed it. Looks like decent quality for cheap and they shoot pretty well. They regularly have 'em around here for under 150, but I'm not sure that's with two cylinders. I have more .22 handguns than I can shoot, though. My two favs are my Rossi stainless 4" kit gun, a DA with adjustable sights that is very accurate, and my Ruger Mk2 which has a 2x LER on it. That's MY squirrel gitter, along with my 10" scoped TC barrel for my contender. :D

I'm not sure if the heritage would satisfy me or if I'd want to spend the extra money on a Ruger Single Six where SA guns go. I'm a Ruger lover. But, I know the Heritage is a good shooter, know a guy that has one and I've fired it. For the money, the guy that just wants a camping/plinking revolver just can't go wrong, especially if he's got a tight budget, and who don't now days?

WOW! For that much I would add one to the collection just for fun.

Here, if you can find them, it's north of $250.00. (Northern Illinois):banghead:

I was thinking about one and opted to spend the extra $$ and go with the Single Six.

If I could find most any .22LR handgun for under $150.00 new OR used I would probably buy it..............

.......actually, I WOULD buy it!

I take it, Academy never bothered will Illinois? :D They regularly have the gun at our Academy for under 150, don't recall exact details, whether that's the convertible cylinder model or not. Their web site doesn't list it, though. What do Buckmarks run up there? We got those here for 280 listed on the Academy site. Heck, I'd pay 30 dollars more to get a Buckmark, personally.

Have plenty for "fun". But I hope you have good luck and service with your new Rough Rider. Me, I prefer double action 22 revolvers and would never use the 22WMR cylinder.

Academy has finally made into my area with two new stores. One is open. I suspect I'll still visit Dicks, Sportsman Warehouse, and Bass Pro more frequently.

I like mine ok. I tend to shoot my centerfires more but it is ok. I think I paid around 140 for mine with one cylinder a couple of years ago. I got the .22 mag cylinder from Heritages website. I think it was another $30 or $35 for the second cylinder. It's kinda hard for me to justify using the .22 mag much though just for plinking-.22 long rifle is just too much cheaper.

Well, I can handload .45 Colt or .38 for about 5 dollars a hundred using my own cast bullets and free range scrap lead. Quite a bit cheaper than .22 mag. I had a switch cylinder when I was a kid, but never shot the .22 mag much. These days, I'll shoot a blackhawk for SA fun, or maybe one of my cap and ball guns. I LOVE those things for range fun. :D Wouldn't mind adding a .22LR single action to my collection, though I guess you could say I have one, a .22LR NAA mini. Guess that don't count, though. :D

I bought one for my son over a year ago it now has about 1500 rounds through it with no issues other then the finish. My son loves the gun, its great for a young shooter learning the basics, accurate enough and cheap to shoot. While im not a big fan of the .22 (not enough bang for me ) I bought it based on price alone i own more then a couple of Rugers and with out a doubt it does'nt compare in quality. Im sure it will serve you well as a backyard/range plinker.

keep a eye on the ejector rod housing screw both my father's and my son's came loose and fell out. we put loctite on them .

That happened to my nephews gun just a few weeks after he got it for christmas. Along with the screw falling out the ejector assembly broke. My brother called about a new one and Heritage shipped it out to him no questions asked. We'll see how it holds out. He loves that gun and for $140 (last christmas from academy) it should teach him the basics of owning and handling a firearm.

Works pretty good with birdshot rounds too.

Yep, I took care of a fat 2 1/2' copperhead with mine from a distance of about 8' last month. I'd wager that about 80+% of the pellets struck him in the head.

Mine shoots perfectly to point of aim with all the ammo I've tried. It is tough to beat for the money, especially since new and used Single Sixes regularly sell for $450 where I live. At $150, it was tough to justify spending $300 more for the Ruger, but YMMV.
