it is the '61 Navy, fluted, which in real life only about a hundred were made.

BHP FAN,

The fluted model (1860 and 1861) offered by Colts had flutes running the full length of the cylinder. The Pocket Police from Colts had the half fluted cylinder as offered by Pietta.

1861 with full flutes.

Nice job on the rework. I am not that patient. Did you checker the grips?

Isn't it wonderful how the Italians can take a very rare piece of history and make them seem almost common?

Or create models that never were?

Sorry for the drift, this should probably be a new thread.

no,I got them that way from VTI...it was a big timesaver, and honstly I was never that good at checkering.

I've had an order in with VTI for 3 weeks.
I ordered a 5 1/2" Sheriff barrel for a 44 cal 1851 Pietta.
I'm wondering if anyone is alive over there? I haven't got it yet, nor an answer to my email wondering about it.

Well, mine definitely never was with it's Colt Lightning grip!

I saw a pic of an SAA once with an Army grip frame. It almost certainly didn't leave the factory that way, but it's also hard to really know for sure what might have wound up being assembled or peiced into a working gun on the frontier.
IIRC, the Lightning was a smalle frame though, wasn't it?

Still, your gun is so cool!
You guys keep posting pictures and I just don't have the money to keep up!

Strawhat, how in the heck did I miss your 1860 snubby?! And goon,I may have seen that same picture...as the percussion guns became obsolete, or were broken, rather than repair the old gun why not use the parts on your newer gun? Those old guys were every bit as clever as we are...

Probably because it is so small! don't know, I have shown it a couple of times. Time to get new photos of it as I am sure you guys are getting tired of the old ones. Working on new grips for a couple of guns at the moment so photos will wait.

In retrospect I gave my deadly little revolver a rather flippant name...I guess Fantasy Alternative Revolver, Birdshead, .36 [or the ''F.A.R.B.'' .36, for short] would have worked as well...
