..and I really liked it. I've been looking at them for carry but never took them serious until I got to play with one. It was small but that rubber grip really helped, the sight picture was pretty fast too..perfect for point shooting. The size was nice too for pocket carry. Anybody have any experience pocket carrying them in a pocket holster? I'm looking for something a bit more comfortable than my usual 'get off me gun', my 38 Derringer with 2 Buffalo Bore wadcutters.

And it might be me but the hammer pull was pretty light and the cylinder had some play for being what they told me was a brand new gun, any of these two a concern?

Also, does any defensive ammo actually 'work' through these really short barrels or is it best to stick with ball. I know JHP bullets and pre-frags will expand out of my 38 Derringer.
Does anyone make a wadcutter or SWC bullet in .22 magnum?

The Pug is a formidable little pocket gun that you can carry anywhere comfortably. There are several inexpensive pocket holsters that work well.

Most of us are using the new Speer Gold Dot or Hornady Critical Defense designed for short barrels. They penetrate well but expansion is variable.

I just picked a Wasp and am amazed a the accuracy you can get of these little guns. While not a .380 or 9mm, a .22 mag can be quite a formable weapon with shot placement. I actually feel quite a bit better with the Wasp in my pocket than my LCP, which I'm now thinking hard about trading in on an Pug :D.

I do carry my .22LR NAA in my weak side pocket regardless of primary. I'd feel a little off relying upon the Black Widow with no back up considering reloading is not an option, but in most situations I'm going to ever see, let alone in suit pants, the NAA will be plenty enough firepower. I trust .22 mag more than .32ACP personally, but comparing it to .380 might be a stretch. All in all, though, I'd rather have my 9 or .38. :D

To clarify, I'd rather have .380 power over the .22 mag, but I'd much rather have the accuracy and reliability of the Mini over the LCP... not to mention greater portability, concealability, and, well.... fun.

love my PUG-using the new Hornady mag the little thing fairly whacks the steel plates and is fairly accurate-I use the fold up pocket holster from NAA and I like that a lot. I shot about 6" high with the night sights but soon adjusted my sight picture to where it shot on point. Also the 22 mag shotshells seem to shoot a nice pattern with some force-snakes beware.
I like my PUG and it is easy to carry and shoots well. an always gun!

If you pocket these things, I'd advise you, in the hot, humid summers especially to rotate to new ammo once a week. I do it on Sunday with my little .22 NAA. I don't carry the mag every day, so usually fire it before it needs rotation. The reason for this is that after about a month, I start to get duds from the pocket moisture. It affects the .22 LR especially, not enough time with .22 mag, but I wouldn't take the chance. If you carry it every day in summer and sweat a lot as I do down here in hot, humid Corpus, rotate the ammo.

Supposedly the new Hornady defensive ammo for .22 Mag is very close to .380. Supposedly. Time will tell.

FYI Laserlyte makes very small lasers for NAA minis. Weird in a "leather saddle on a flying saucer" way but supposedly they work well.

I have a pocket holster from Concealment Holster Solutions and I cannot recommend it highly enough. It is a one man operation that turns out quality leatherwork. The holster keeps my Guardian positioned properly in my pocket and prevents it from printing. The company specializes in fitted, leather holsters for NAA minis and pistols, including some holsters that accommodate the aforementioned laser.

Cheers,

Aaron

Thanks for the link! I never looked for one, will order on my next midway order, for sure. STILL won't count on a reload in a bad situation, but be nice to have a way to organize rounds, not just drop loose in a pocket with rims unprotected.

They make about 100 ft lbs. The .32ACP out of a pocket sized gun like the Kel Tec makes about that. The .380 can make over 200 ft lbs. I wouldn't carry 'em, but there are some like Buffalo Bore loading up to .38 special +P levels. Sounds to me that the gun wouldn't last long with such a round and that what the carrier really needs is a 9x19. I wouldn't carry 'em in MY .380, just sayin' they're available. But, even normal .380 puts down 200 ft lbs with a 90 grain .355" diameter bullet. There is just no way .22 mag is ever gonna equal that. What Hornady puts on their site compares penetration on their Personal Defense loads. There's far more to an effective round than just penetration.

They add bulk (if you can call it bulk :D ) and replace the sights which, unlike the little NAAs are rather good Novaks on the Black Widow. I'll keep mine sans the electronics. If they ever come out with RAILS on a NAA mini revolver, I'll know the second coming is near.

I do replace the carry ammo often in my Black Widow here in hot humid Florida, and those are the ones I shoot first on range trips. So far, every round has gone BANG (yeah, they are loud out of that short barrel).

I like the Speer Gold Dots best for carry.

I shot a friends NAA in .22lr and .22 mag. It was a lot of fun. She got the the combo for about $50 over the magnum alone. Word of advice, be sure to pull the hammer only to half cock when changing cylinder. Maybe it was large hands, but I felt really uncomfortable installing the loaded cylinder.
