My normal warm weather carry for several years has been my G19 and cold weather carry has been a Kimber pro carry II.This last summer I have been carring my XDS 9.It is cooling down here now so I decided to carry my 19 the last couple of days and its not as comfortable as I remember it.Just for reference I use a double thick leather belt and TTgunleather MS VMII style holster for all three. This morning I Strapped on the XDS And its like its not there.I shoot the 19 well and like the capacity,I shoot the Kimber well and like the heavy round for heavy cloths season. But the xds is much more comfortable to carry.I shoot IDPA with the 19 and Kimber durring there respective seasons to keep in practice, not sure I want to play the game with the little guy.
sorry about the rambling just thinking out load.

I've noticed that with the surge of pocket guns that I don't carry OWB/IWB hardly every anymore. It's so simple to slide a tiny 380, 9mm or even .40 into the pocket that it almost seems like a hassle no strap on something larger. Now if I'm going out of town I'll carry a bigger gun but for around town on quick trips, which is mostly what I do these days, it's so much easier to pocket carry and keep a spare mag or two in the other pocket.

I'll admit that I have switched from a full size gun to a micro for 95% of my carry duty. My job simply requires 100% invisible carry. I wear jeans and a tucked in polo. I bend, I sit, I stand, all around customers. Not everyone I sell to is pro-gun.

I find a little .380 in my pocket so much more comfortable and I'm not self conscious of printing in any way. Even when I wear a jacket, I'll usually carry my M&P .380 in one pocket and offset what little weight it drags down with my LCP for an instant NY Reload.

I still might strap on the 92fs or a 1911 under my coat, but unless I'm heading into the woods or downtown, I usually still just carry a couple of .380 micros for my day to day.

I suppose 14 rounds of good quality .380 are better than 7 .45 that I leave at home.

I understand what you're saying! Am going more & more to OWB w/Glock 26 due to bad back. IWB, while sometimes absolutely necessary, is changed as soon as possible. I do change to .45 ACP during heavy clothing season. Use a Glock 30. Have to dress around the guns, as Clint Smith says! Have used carry systems by Mitch Rosen for both weapons. They have been worth every cent and still give exceptional service!

With all the small, well built and light 9mm, .38 Special and .357 Magnum revolver and semi-autos available today I see no reason to carry a heavy gun.

I carry a J frame daily but I see nothing wrong with the light Kahr 9mm's, the Sig P238, Sig P938, the LCR, the LC9, the PF-9, Bodyguard 38, Bodyguard 380, the M&P Shield and a host of other really nice handguns being made now.

When you guys mention pocket carry...which pockets are we talking? front or back? seems like youd need to use the rear? Maybe i carry too much crap in my pockets but i usually have keys and pocket knife in front right and front left has wallet and cellphone.

Yes, it's a trade off. I had to move keys, change etc to the left front pocket when I started pocket carrying. I carry either a J frame or a P938 in my front right pocket. I normally wear cargo pants. Wallet in left cargo pocket along with mag/speed strip. knife in right rear pocket.

I usually carry a pocket pistol in my back pocket. Not the fastest draw but certainly quicker than trying to yank up a shirt tucked in around my gun and still clear my holster. Some people don't like sitting on their gun, but it doesn't bother me unless I'm sitting for hours on end.

I've also found those largeish side pockets sewn in under the breast pocket of some button down shirts to be a handy place to covertly carry a sneaky pistol. Sometimes when I get ready for a long car trip I just drop it in an easily accessible breast shirt pocket.

I usually wear a barn coat style of jacket. It has 4 pockets. Two large ones that I generally use for carrying my gloves or loose change etc and two smaller ones for my hands...which are each stuffed with a small pistol.

If you are proficient with the XDs and is more comfortable to carry, then why not stick to it? 8 rounds is alot. If you feel undergunned because of the low ammo count, then just carry more than 2 magazines.

I personally feel that I should stick to 1 or 2 handguns for my EDC and be very proficient with it. My carry is the Ruger SR1911 commander and occasionally the G19.

I prefer to carry my 30S due to the increased capacity, but in reality I mostly pocket carry my XDS .45. It generally conceals well with a pocket holster in Docker type pants. With 2 additional magazines, as BP Hunter mentioned, I'm comfortable with it.

I've shot the xds in a couple of IDPA matches and it has preformed well.
I dropped a couple places but still finished in the top 6 or 7th.mainly due to extra reloads and a bit heavier trigger, accuracy and function are good.

I would prefer to have my 44 snub with me, but it requires an extra shirt or jacket.

My 38 snub with no hammer spur is much easier to conceal; it is not noticeable in all but the lightest clothing.

In the summer, when it can be 110+ degrees, my little Kel-Tek 380 is easy to hide even in shorts and tank top.

Like the OP, though, even though the weather has mostly cooled off by now, I still find myself wanting to stick my 380 in my pocket because it is so easy and comfortable.

I have only had to use a handgun for self defense twice, and in each case one or two rounds was plenty, so I don't feel "unarmed" with any of these options.

usually carry colt off. 45, but sometimes my sig 938, both iwb.. depending on situation sometimes my naa 22mag... the sig 938 you can forget u have it on.... carries real easy....

I have to admit I have gotten a little lazy myself. After mainly carrying a 19 and a spare mag through the heat of summer. I have found that I am carrying my J frames more and more. I have been carrying my 60 and just bought a 642. I am confident in the J frame as well as my ability with the J frame out to 25 yards.

After testing myself and my father in drawing out of pocket vs holster while sitting and standing we both quit pocket carrying. However, I am still kinda lazy. I used to feel that in order to be fully safe I needed a bigger gun, either higher capacity or large rounds, sometimes both.

Nowadays I find myself carrying my 637 OWB in a Bianchi holster with a speedloader in my left pocket. Yep, low capacity, slow to reload but it's so light that I can literally forget it's on. I never take it off until my pants come off at night.

I knew I would get lazy and start leaving my firearm behind for "quick" trips to the store and stuff like that.

I went with pocket carry, but I knew that a larger pistol was going to be difficult to draw from a pocket.

I purchased a Rohrbaugh R9 which is light enough and convenient enough that I take it with me all the time, I just drop it into a pocket.

I'm still amazed at the size of some of these pistols that folks claim are "pocket" pistols.

If a pistol can be stuffed into any kind of pocket whatsoever - there will be someone on a gun forum declaring that it is a pocket pistol. No thought is given to how easy or difficult the firearm is to deploy from the pocket, how badly it is printing or any other issues.

On Glocktalk there was a guy insisting that he pocket carried G22.

I don't carry a gun because it's comfortable, I carry because it is comforting. Someone else said that, I believe it and repeat it.

^ well maybe it's my practice of clean country living but the prior 31 years of my adult life I didn't need comforting, the last 5 I've been comfortable with my LCP in pocket.

I carry my LCP nearly daily as a back-up, but I rarely use it as my only weapon. I don't lack confidence in the .380 round to do it's job, I lack my ability to effectively use an LCP under stress.

I'm just much more comfortable with my G27.
