I just got a Ruger GP100 4" with adjustable sights and love it. Took it to the range last week and the only thing I don't like about this gun is the front sight. Since the front and back sights are both black, I can't see the front sight very well and have trouble focusing on it.

I'm planning on getting a new front sight and have found 2 possibilities so far - there is a replacement front sight Ruger makes with a red insert: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/70423-6167-1114.html

I also found this, looks interesting: http://www.midwayusa.com/eproductpage.exe/showproduct?saleitemid=320817 Says it's for the Redhawk, but I think I remember reading that GP100 and Redhawk front sights are interchangeable.

Which of these two are better, and are there any other options I should know about? I don't want to do anything that involves drilling or modifications to the gun, I want a sight that can just pop into place. This is a home defense/range gun but I would probably carry it if I ever moved somewhere where the Constitution was obeyed and I could open carry.

I bought one of the Marble's green fiber optic sights for my Redhawk and love it. I have a green fiber optic sight on one of my shotguns (the kind that clamp to the rib) I liked the concept, very fast/easy to pick up the front sight. If you're sure it's compatible with your GP100, I'd say go for it.

The GP100 and Redhawk share the same sight mount, but the Redhawk uses a different height front sight. A sight made for the Redhawk will fit the GP100, but there may not be enough adjustability in the rear sight to make it work.

I didn't think of that. Anyone know if that sight will work with the GP100 rear sights? On the Marble's web site it says the sight is .332" tall. Or does anyone else make a fiber optic sight for the GP100?
