I finally had a chance to make it to the range today for a little practice. Over the past month all my range days were spent in the ER for a variety of reasons but no surprises today so I Made It.
I took my Black Mamba so I could get in some practice before this week's Steel Challenge Match. I fired 200 rounds at 25 yards working on the speed of my first shot. I figured if I could consistently hit the 8 inch ring of a Bianchi Target I'd be good to go and could save a lot of time on my overall score. My time to first shot has been really slowing me down lately. Today's exercise should be beneficial. I was able to get shots off in less than 1.5 seconds. Still needs a lot of work but it's a vast improvement.
What put a smile on my face was when I took out my Heritage Rough Rider. I had a box of CCI Quiet ammo with me and after putting up a fresh target at only 7 yards I dropped the hammer on a QUIET. The lack of noise and recoil was very noticeable. I went on to fire the 50 round box and kept all rounds into about 3 inches. Not spectacular but pretty good considering the old style sights on this gun.
I always bring 2 guns to the range with me, either for a spare or just for fun. Today proved to be for fun.
