Great article about the 1911, good and bad

I have an M1927 Argentine -- that's an M1911A1 made in Argentina on Colt machinery, under Colt supervision. It eats anything I feed it, from 230-grain FMJ Ball, to 180-grain semi-wadcutters to hollow points.

I have never had an M1911 that choked up on hollowpoints.

I've got a couple 1911s that not only feed JHPs and SWCs but they'll feed empty cases when I do failure drills

1911Tuner,

My info about 1911 feeding problems for the Texas DPS came from the supplier who sold the agency the replacement 357 Sigs. DPS recently went to 9mm, then quickly fell back on the Sigs again. Maybe they'll get it worked out.

So, to be clear, the info came from a company who would greatly benefit from the DPS dropping the 1911 for the gun THEY were selling? Credible source if you ask me. Seems like they had a vested interest in putting down the competition, if you ask me. Of course, you didn't ask me.

I like polymer guns in 9mm, but if I'm shooting .45s its going to be from a 1911.

Off Topic: I believe the Glock was built around the 9mm. I think the S&W M&P was built around the .40 or at least was built with the .40 in mind. I don't know about the Springfield XD.
