Wow, first time I have watched Boston Legal in forever. Starts out that a mugger holds up William Shatner and some fellow actor in a parking garage(just got better, I'm watching it now as I type and two cops just pulled out like six guns LOL while Shatner is in his office). Of course William Shatner's character decides to mess with the mugger who then cocks the 1911. Eventually Shatner hands over the goods "Watch....Wallet....Gun...Left kneecap 'Boom' (don't know if I heard right)....Left Foot'Boom'.....Right Foot 'Boom'."

So of course Shatner's character defends himself in Boston Massachussetts, oh big no no, out there they want "active cooperation" (that thing that makes you four to five times more likely to get killed as the FBI's statistics show) and get's picked up by the police because he had a concealed weapon, that thing that possibly kept him and his friend from getting killed.

A good gun moment as I figure it, sure made me interested in Boston Legal again, been like two years since I last saw it.

Of course my moment would have gone "Wallet" <drop wallet by 'accident'>, <dirtbag bends over> and gets a .357 JHP hydroshock to the skull. Also granted I'd never be in Massachusetts.

This episode is shaping up to be a good "Gun" episode.

I'm watching it too. Lets just wait and see how it turns out. Shatner has used his guns several times, sometimes questionably, and gotten off before. If you can get past the liberal leanings, it is a really funny show.

Show says 30,000 people are killed by guns every year in the US. Thats about 90 a day, 2 per state. Any truth, or just Hollywood theatrics?

Add to that the Shatner moment where he's asked about running for president. And the hostage-taking scene where he snipes the guy with an AR-7.

The number is about right, but I'll bet they neglected to mention that half those deaths were suicides.

    It's a valid stat.

CDC lists 30,694 firearm related deaths for 2005. That's everything: crimes, suicide, accidents (including hunting), law enforcement, etc. 17,002 were suicide, and another 12,352 were homicide (intentional).

BTW, motor vehicle related deaths were 45,520. 45,343 were "unintentional" (accidents).

Funny thing about Boston Legal is that I have never seen them potray firearms and firearm ownership as a thing of evil.
Remember when Shatner won the Assault weapons case? :D

Nobody is ever killed "by guns."

People are either killed by other people, themselves, or by accident through their own negligence. In none of those cases is it ever the fault of whatever object was used.

So, with a little over 30,000 dying from "gun violence" every year (yeah, suicides, gangbangers -- that's where some of the "children" stats come from)... and assuming a population in the US of about 333 million (I'm counting those illegals who are here too)... only .09% of us are at risk... I'll take those odds!

    :)
