I think they are pretty fascinating and damn cool to boot, but what is it about these that make them "in demand" to a particular crowd? This one for instance on GB, book shows them to be around $250 or so... first bid... $500.00 and I have seen them go for much more... I know a gun is WORTH what someone is willing to pay BUT more than double the book value?

Limited availability and 22 mag autoloaders are not common. It seems to have a bit of a cult following. I would waiting on the new Kel-Tec 22 mag auto myself. I will not be paying twice the price though.

People like weird and oddball stuff.
The grendel's popularity is on the rise again due to Kel-Tec's announcment of the new 22 Mag auto.
The same could be said for Llamas,FEGs & a whole bunch of others.

grendel p 30

hello, very new to this sort of stuff. I googeled grendel p-30 and this is where I landed. Why G P 30 you may ask? Been home 5 days after 3 weeks in the hospital, self inflicted gunshot wound. Want to guess the firearm? Yep a Grendel P-30, new condition, I had not put a box of shells through it. Bought it in Billings MT not a month earlyer, dirt cheap according to prices i saw on this bog. So you may be asking how stuped is this guy? 56 yrs. old, bought my first handgun at 16 (bear cat ruger),shot at least 20 elk,2 hand fulls of deer, hundreds of gophers, 4 kriders in S.Africa including kudu. Raised on a nice cattle ranch, worked with a over amped custom gun maker a few years. I'm not a counter so I'm not sure how many long guns, pistols, double actions, and single actions I own.And only 4 or 5 shotguns. I do know on that dreded day, that after pulling the mag. (30 rd) , the action was racked, then racked again, in handing it off it fired. The little 33 grn. ball. tip entered me 4 in. above belly b. and 'bout 2 in. left, headed for my left hip joint. With Grace's help it missed the acendening artery, so I could try to write this. So boys and girls please be double careful!! At this time the gun is not for sale. All my best, T.H.

The Grendel P30 was unique. It was banned by the assault weapons bill. The new Kel-Tec was designed by the same person and is considered an improvement over the original by many. It will be on store shelves soon. Part of the appeal is 30rds. of 22Mag in a handgun the size of many 380/9mm .

But the important lesson here is: don't believe what the Blue book tells you.

In the fluid economy that the web has created, numbers printed months in advance of publication mean nothing.

If you're interested in the 22 mag, you might be interested in the FN 5.7x28. Take a look at the ballistics charts sometime, and this totally modern (plastic) gun might give you cause for a second look. I bought one about 3 months ago, and now it goes to the range with me all the time. There is just something about shooting a quasi rifle round through a light handgun with almost no felt recoil. Scary stuff.
