I have a S&W Mdl 28, 4" barrel, and square grip, that my wife and I share. It has Pachayr Gripper grips on it now and they are too big for her.
I'm looking for suggestions from people with smaller hands, for a set of grips that would make this revolver easier for her to grip properly.

TIA, J

When we had female officers with smaller hands--(When I was an armorer-- female officers were still unusual) -- the standard magna style grips seemed to work real well--
They make Bootgrips for the N Frame as well as the Std Magna Style in bone//fake Ivory//walnut and you should be able to find regular old N frame magna grips around--should be relatively cheap as long as they aren't in perfect condition--

small hands

I have small hands. Tried the Hogue grips and didn't like them at all. Quality was nice, but I did not like the feel.

Put on a set of Magna's and a Tyler T-Grip. NOW I love the way the gun fits in my hand! :D

Badger makes some pretty comfortable stocks that fit my somewhat small hands for under $100.

You might want to look into the possibility of having the square butt trimmed to round butt dimensions, which typically costs $75–$100, and opens up the possibilities.

Try to find a pair of the old two-panel Pachmayr Presentations in the Small size.

I like the wood grips. I changed out a couple N frames that had the Pachmayr grips to others for just that reason. One now has some Nills. I at first though they looked to big but when I got them in my hands, they were perfect.

Here's a M-28 with the Nills SB combat grips...

and one with the Hogue combat grips...

and a Brazilian Contract 1917 with Sile Rosewood grips.

Surprisingly, all of these feel smaller than the Pachys.

Frenchy,
Do you have a web site for Gunsnrovers? I haven't been able to find one.

frodo527,
I like the looks of the Pachymar Gripper Pro, I'll show it to my wife and see what she thinks.

Standing Wolf,
Do you have a link to Badger grips, I couldn't find that one either?
Because this is an old (Late 50's "S" prefix) 4 screw revolver I have decided that modifing the frame is not an option. Finding a different set of grips more to the wifes liking is about all we can do. Some time in the future when funds are available we plan to find her a revolver that better fits her.

Thanks for the ideas, keep 'em coming.

I tried boot grips from Eagle on mine and they are nice grips but, to me, they are too small. They look good and feel pretty good but don't allow enough purchase for my hands. I got a pair of Miculek grips from Clark Custom Guns (www.clarkguns.com). These are the same grips on the S&W performance center 627s and 625s, etc. Miculek makes them also for square butt N-frames. Mine cost 65 bucks plus shipping but they are wonderful. Check them out in a gunstore if you can find one of the PC Smit hs to look at.

I have a number of N-frames and small hands. I have pachmayr or Hogue rubber grips on all of them. They make some that are quite comfortable.

These Eagle stag grips look flat in this picture but they actually have an oval shape when installed on the frame. The contour is close to the grips found on old Ruger Speed Six's. I have rather smallish hands and I find them extremely comfortable even shooting this .45 Colt S&W Mountain Gun with 255 grain SWC's at 850+ FPS.

Check www.midwayusa.com they have hogue bantam grips for $14.95,product #249-368.These are the snap on grips that don't use stirrups or screws.
They come on some new smith & wessons
and feel great if you have small hands pr short fingers.

Being an SB gun, that kinda eliminates some of the newer grip configurations.

I'd second (third?) the Magnas & T-grip suggestion...

IN THE PAST 40+ YEARS OF SHOOTING N-FRAME SMITHS, AND K-FRAME'S TOO FOR THAT ,MATTER,

I have found nothing better than the custom made SKEETER SKELTON STYLE stocks now made by BLU MAGNUM Colo spgs, Colo. These are a refinement of the old style ROPER stocks of yesteryear and nothing but NOTHING feels as good in nearly all hand sizes.
These are custom made to yore hand size, and frankly the thinner they're made the better they are. I have medium size hands and if the stocks are semi trasparent in bright light they are perfect [ slight exageration there ]
These are made out of fancy walnut and the sky is the limit as to how fancy you want them to be. On a good gun, don't be cheap, you've left more beer than that spilt on the bar, right?!
I own no S+W sixgun that is not equipped with these stocks anymore.
Tedd Adamovich is the maker of BLU MAGNUM stocks. Put in yore order, then go away and leave him alone; he is well behind as are all real craftsmen and when yore's are done you will be happy with them, bet the ranch on it!!
