S&w 22-4 will not take aftermarket grips

Hi All
I have a S&W 22-4 that I bought a set of Pachmayr Gripper grips for that the spring in the handle area lines up exactly centered of the grip screw.
I am trying to preserve my wood grips and like rubber grips better.
Anybody have any suggestions?

I put Houge Monogrip on mine and they fit fine. I had the same experience with the Pachmayrs though.
