Grip tape - Pics?

Ok, gang, I need some REALLY SPECIFIC help here.

I saved my pennies and hoarded my milk money and picked up a Kimber Warrior today (yes, all the advertising worked on me). Put 150 through it on the range - love this thing. Only one FTF, and that was my limp-wristed fault.

Which brings me to needing your help. I ordered a set of "grabbier" grips, but I've seen some of y'all reference applying "grip tape." I even found a thread with some good ideas of what this "grip tape" IS and where I can find it.

HOWEVER - I can't wrap Christmas presents and my bumperstickers are on crooked, so I don't want to run wild with no idea of what I'm trying to do. Do any of you who have applied grip tape to the front portions of your grips have pictures you can post? I noted at least a couple folks have gone under the grips - is this best way to do it?

Any help would be great. I shoot mostly at a no-AC indoor range (in Florida), and if I don't get a better hold, I'm going to fumble my new baby in a MOST embarassing manner.

Look online for something called the 'AGRIP'.

They are thin precut grip wraps. I believe they make them for 1911 style pistols. I've got one on my Kahr PM9 and they make it really easy to hold on to. Their advertisement says that the sweatier your hands are, the better they grip. Believe it.

There is a product called Decal Grip that is pre cut skateboard tape.
However, they do not make it for the 1911.
There are scads of grips made for the 1911!!!
Everybody and his dog makes them!!
Just get some rough checkered wood grips and you will be fine!!
More expensively, you may consider having a gunsmith put some checkering on your front and back strap!! About 25LPI should do the trick!

This is skateboard tape on the front strap. It works great. I can't seem to find a photo of the backstrap right now, but it looks just the same.

RH - Thanks! That's the trick I was thinking of. I've already ordered some grips that should be a big improvement, and I like the tape because one of the 1911's big draws for me is the slim grip, so I don't want to do wraparounds...

I use 3M safety tape and it has turned out well on a lot of guns. Here is a pic on my Kimber Pro Tac II SE.

Grip tape on the front strap and a set of VZ grips (better than the stock grips Kimber puts on the Warrior and Desert Warrior -- some folks like the Gunner Grips for the same reason).

I put some 3M tape made for steps on the frontstrap of the DW. I used a file to smooth it out a little, it was way to ruff.
