Gun Auction Sites

Has anyone ever worried about having too many transactions on Gunbroker or other similar sites? Not transactions per se, but the number of feedbacks is a good indicator of activity. No tinfoil hats here, but does anyone think this info is too easily trackable?

As an aside, one seller who I've purchased from in the past sudden changed their user ID and thus their feedback count dropped back below 500. I've seen a few other sellers do the same. Same merchandise, verbiage, & contact info...etc...

As a buyer, when I see a seller changing his/her user name, that's a red flag for me. Is he trying to get rid of bad feedback?

Honestly, I don't think the "authorities" are tracking people's feedback on GunBroker.

Nope, not worried about the track-age. A seller abruptly changing his name, though, is a little weird.

I'm not too worried about a seller changing his name, because even that is tracked and their display name history is usually publicly viewable. People change their names all the time, for various reasons, such as if their name includes a reference to their location and they move.

Correct. OTOH if you select the convenient link called "View Sellers Other Auctions" and a non-FFL has several hundred NIB late-model guns listed, the only payment option is cash, for local pick-up only, the authorities will take note.

Who cares? You might be buying ammo, mags, lots of non-gun things. BATF doesn't have time or resources to track all that information, nor do they care. I try to look at a seller's details on feedback anyway to be sure his rating of 100 positives aren't for a bunch of small items he's sold that are NOT firearms, to be sure he's a reliable seller. I also take a second look at any seller who has changed his name and wonder WHY?
