Gun Carrying System for Running

I carry a BHP in an Askins Avenger strong side when I run. I put the holster on a Wilderness Instructors belt and cinch it up.

A t-shirt over top of it usually conceals it fine, but concealment isn't really an issue or requirement for me when I run.

Running with stuff hanging off me isn't much of an issue either. Between running with stuff on me in the Army and running with stuff on me in the academy, and having the odd foot chase with a drunked up fisherman with stuff on me every now and again, I'm used to it.:D

If you wear a t-shirt, a belly band is secure & lightweight (you'll also need either a cover garment or a good rapport with your local police, of course).

JJNA - Try an NAA "Shorty" Mini-Magnum in a pale horse holsters pocket holster; works fine... I recommend a simple load of 2 "Snakeshot" (Pronounced "Faceshot"!), followed by 3 of HP Magnum.

I go running with my camelbak and even in the streamline bladder only versions you could slip a gun in there. Probably not as fast access as the others but its an option.

I use SmartCarry as well.

The secret is to use a lightweight gun. No decent carry system will work if you're trying to run with a heavy gun. A heavy gun will bounce all around.

I use a Kel-Tec P32. That's lightweight.

I should try my other lightweight guns to see if they work ... I also have a S&W M342 AirLite Ti (purchased pre-HUD agreement).

the closer and tighter to the body your gun is the less heavy it feels, the looser and further from the center the heavier it feels.

If you already have a heavier gun that you want to carry. You will need to find away to pull it close and tight to your body. Otherwise you need a light weight.

When I jog I use a fanny pack if i'm carrying a full size 1911, sometimes I use an IWB holster for small firearms like snubby .38 or .380.

The best holster to use when jogging is the PT-ONE holster made by Pistol Wear. I have tried everything legitimate and this one works the best by far. Good quality and it works great for when riding the bike. Their website is http://pistolwear.com

This holster is worn snug against the body.

Man, I can't believe some of the **** that gets posted on this board.

JJNA, for cycling I downsized to a P3At in a Bulldog fanny pack. I haven't really run with it, though.
What about a nylon shoulder holster? Just be sure to wash it after every few runs.

I run with a small frame revolver, hammer resting on an empty cylinder, concealed in a very small fanny pouch which I place on the small of my back. I forget it's even there. Can draw from it in under 5 seconds.

ETA: yes I know that modern revolvers are designed to be shock or drop proof, but I just feel better with the hammer resting on an empty rather than take the chance of a mechanical failure and a AD.
