Gun Coating Info? Duracote and the like

[MOD TALK: Ok...this is indeed starting to get personal and so, drift OT. However, in the interest of protecting the membership who may be interested in some of the services offered, TITAN308, please do explain the legalities of your refinishing service. Thank you.]

As stated in the actual thread. I am an employee of my FFLs payroll. Just like any employee of an FFL holder, that FFL is an extension to myself. Their facility is also available to myself. I perform other services for the FFL (as also pointed out already) that extend beyond refinishing. Why was this not stated? Because quite frankly its irrelevant. I was asked if it was legal; I responded it was. If that was not good enough for some people they were more than welcome to not take advantage of the offer.

Edit: This would have become clear to anyone getting multiple items refinished when one set of items (non-regulated) would be directed to be sent to one address (my personal) and other items (regulated) would be sent to a completely different address (business that holds the FFL).

Sam/AL - why did you not PM me on this? I would have gladly volunteered the reasoning.

This is an unexpected disappointment.

This service was a way to give back to the community at a personal loss to my own pocket. I am going to finish out what inquiries I have obtained and accepted and then I am suspending that offer until further notice.

It is absolutely ridiculous that you allow a member of another business to act as nothing more than a bully and worse yet, empower his baseless accusations.

Nothing that needs to be secret about this. Information valuable to all. Thanks for sharing.

Titan, I think you're the only one who's seeing this conversation as bullying. You've stated some opinions. He stated some opinions. Some facts were also exchanged. Some questions about the various products were raised. A few of those were answered.

Mac then raised a legal question which I've raised myself in other threads, to other members discussing firearms refinishing. There's no reason to consider such questions improper, and acting as though there's some reason to keep it hush-hush looks odd, to say the least. Be professional, up-front, and open about things and there's no need for drama or feelings of persecution.

If you want to suspend your offer, that's your business. Sounds like you'll keep money in your pocket that way! :) If you want to do so because you think someone here was mean to you ... uh ... wow. As the kids say, "hey, whatever, man."

I'd recommend reading the whole thread again, trying to act as a disinterested observer, and see if you don't come away with a significantly different view of things than you now hold.

That is not my concern, my concern is with allowing another business that offers their own type of refinishing to push this sort of outcome against the small fry offering a refinishing service for free. That assumption/guess/consideration has more baring in fact than anything he said or accused me of.

This was nothing more than a witch hunt and it was permitted to stand.

I'm not sure how to register your lack of concern for someone who went out of their way to do something nice for the THR.com community without any sort of expectation for something in return. Its not even fun to keep having to pointing this out because it seems egotistical, but I don't see any other way to say what needs to be said in full clarity.

Titan, jeez dude. This wasn't TITAN's thread about how great DuraCoat is. This was just a thread about people's opinions about VARIOUS gun coating products. You're acting like someone pooped in your personal bowl of cheerios and that's just odd. Chill.

If you've got a right to talk about the service you're giving away, other folks have a right to discuss what services they provide -- and everyone has the right to say whatever they think about ALL of the products under discussion.

You've got a thread about providing your service. Fine. We won't let someone hog YOUR thread. But this ain't your personal ring of the circus, right here.

Cool? :)

Sam I would take a moment to go back and re-read the thread, I in no way initiated this conversation or in anyway diverted the topic to the other thread.

Edit: I will help, it all started with Post #7 - a post not belonging to me.

And its pretty safe to say when someone accuses you of being illegal, that is about as close as you get to pissing in someones cheerios.

I am now curious as to your ignoring of that business's actions and further more concerned that somehow you are now trying to blame me for where this thread ended up. Do you have a personal relationship with Mac's I need to be aware of?

Legally, you've got that backwards. If you're an employee of the FFL, anyone taking the offer is doing business with the FFL, not you.

You are merely an agent. The FFL is the principal and responsible for the services. You are an extension of the FFL, not the other way around. So the identity of the FFL needs to be disclosed, and your posts need to be on his behalf and in his name.

The High Road indeed.

No need to say anymore, you've made yourselves extremely clear on how far you are willing to take this.

I can only pray that unbiased views see exactly what has transpired here.

Oooooh kay then. Let's just let this go before it gets any more absurd.

Sure is plenty to learn here. Even some stuff about gun coatings. Hope someone finds it helpful.
