I like it! It also will give some moderate fire protection, not a huge amount but I have seen several fires where the stuff in the fridge and freezer is still cold.
I still keep an old chest freezer in my basement for storing powder and primers. I have accrued quite a bit over the last few years. I know it keeps a long time but keeping powder and primers in a cool basement in sealed containers inside an insulated container should add to that.
You know- if you just ran a chain or coated cable with a lock on the outside of it- I bet a lot of people would think it was still a freezer that you just secured to kid-proof.
Put a dehumidifier in it. They aren't air tight and humidity will find it's own level. You can try keeping the light on 24/7. This may heat up the interior enough to keep the humidity lower than outside. This is how a goldenrod or peet work.
