Gun Grease

I would recommend Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease, I've tried it on my autos and was quite happy with the actions. I tried it on my 3 S&Ws, a 396ng a M19 and a 360 M&P, I couldn't believe the difference in the actions, it's as if all the parts were moving on ball barrings, it eliminated ALL friction, very smooth. The grease is highly resistant to extream hot or cold temps. It does not attract dirt or residoo either. I have not found any ill-effects with any of my guns. It makes one slick setup. :)

Grease or Oil

If it slides, use grease. I use Lubraplate 105. The stuff mechanics use to rebuild engines. It keeps the bearings from damage until the oil gets there. Pick it up at NAPA in a tube for about $10 and it will be enough to last you a lifetime. Makes my 1911 slide feel like it is riding on bearings.

If it turns, use oil. I use Hoppes for areas that need a thick oil. I use Rem Oil with Teflon for areas like hammer pins, sear and disconnectors that need a thin oil.

I've got a product that I've been using for the past couple of months. It's from a company called INOX and they make all kinds of lubes and greases.

I use their MX3 lube as a general lube and their MX6 grease on my slides, bolts etc. Great stuff. Doesn't thin or thicken. Doesn't come off with water. Doesn't evaporate. I use it everywhere. Guns, reels, vehicles, everything.

To give you an idea how good this stuff is a local charter captain is sponsored by them. He coated his boat trailer with the MX3 lube just too see how long it would stay on the trailer. He puts his boat into saltwater every day and 4 months later water is still beading off. He turned me onto it because he started using it on his guns and loved it.
