'07 was a bad year... I guess '08 is cracking up to be worse.

But let's be honest, I doubt things will change if society doesn't realize that HUMAN NATURE DOESN'T CHANGE. We should all be able to be armed in whatever means we sit fit, unfettered except for Airplanes or the like.

The only person that gives a crap about keeping me safe is me.

Plus two Dallas firefighters shot in a drive-by in Phoenix after the Superbowl.

One in good condition, one taken off life support yesterday, now dead.

For no apparent reason. :fire::fire::banghead::banghead::banghead::cuss:

Well well well, what have we here.

Schools are gun free zones.

2.Gunman Opens Fire at City Council Meeting; Several Reported Dead
Government buildings are gun free zones.

3.Police: Officer Killed in Los Angeles Shootout With Man Who Claims He Killed 3 Relatives
California is supposed to be a gun free zone

4. The Illinois Lane Bryant massacre
Illinois is a gun free zone.

5. The 14-yr old that ran into an LA school w/ a gun.
Once again schools are gun free zones as well as 14 year olds can't legally buy or possess guns.

Anyone see a common thread here...gun free zones= target rich enviroments for nutjobs.

It was 2 people after the Superbowl and 1 of them died today.

All of these events are a good reminder why it is important to have a permit to carry a concealed weapon, practice and then practice some more, and always be prepared.

Well, chances of that ever happening are precisely zero, even though I agree with you. I am fascinated why people think that our last hundred years of existence have somehow overcome the previous 10,000...

With these incidents, we need to keep pounding on the "gun free zone" bit...

"Well, hey, it was already illegal for him to have a gun there. For ANYONE to have a gun there. Your laws made it that way. So when someone breaks the law, and walks in shooting, all people could do was try to hide or try to get away. People were forbidden from protecting themselves or others. Now, how would MORE laws saying that a criminal can't carry a gun for criminal purposes help? I'm listening."

Which is why we have to fight back with the argument that every one of these MIGHT have been stopped or minimized if a legally carried firearm in the hands of a law abiding citizen had been present.

Maybe, just maybe. That's all it takes.

I hope it doesn't turn into a "perfect storm" of gun control. Multiple gun incidents + Likely Democratc President + Democratic controlled Congress + Biased/Ignorant Media Scrutiny = More useless laws.

That, and the media will hype these events as their own, under the radar version of a Heller brief.

At some point, the SC judges will read a newspaper or watch the news. It shouldn't influence them, but human nature says it will.

And even then it isn't about the maybe, its about doing the right thing. Here is what one of the people at the stlouis shooting said:

"After that, I was on my stomach under the chairs,” she said. “I laid on my stomach waiting to get shot. Oh God, it was a horror.“
How can we possible sit idle where innocent people are forced to wait to be executed by a mad man? Shouldn't she have been given the opportunity to carry a gun so that she might have had other options than waiting for the killer if she wanted?

Local news here in Dallas has connected that firefighter with selling bootleg superbowl shirts and some kind of mob connection.

They will have more at the 5pm news

'07 was a bad year... I guess '08 is cracking up to be worse.

There are lots of things that I've heard will incite increases in violent criminal activity. One of the biggest influences is the state of the economy; bad times puts more people out of work, more people with their backs against the wall, more people with nothing to lose.

In case anyone is unsure, I'm not blaming the economy for making a good person go bad, but a person who is already unstable or marginally stable can get pushed over the edge when life squeezes them.

My point is that if the current economic forecast is accurate, I expect this to be a bad year for shootings.

But think of "the children"!:D
I recently became a reserve deputy. Now I can carry in such places as schools, banks, post offices etc. Aside from pulling over a speeder in my POV I have all of the authority of a full time deputy. I have been a CCW permit holder for four years. Besides giving back to my community I decided I would do whatever I can to protect my rights and those of my family. There are often ways around the law if you cannot go through it. Just my .02

I see these incidents as crystal clear examples of why the RKBA is absolutely necessary.

Anti's see this as crystal clear examples to confiscate ALL firearms.

I think that the majority of the population is happily uninformed, and easily herded.

Change is in the air, and it doesn't smell good...

What is different now? 32 people died at the VT shooting last year alone. There were others as well like the westroads mall shooting? The only thing I can see that is different is as an election draws near gun owners are turning to chicken little and ready for the sky to fall.

I am sure Hillary is preparing the speech already with a long list of these crimes to use to take our rights away. The media is just jumping the gun pumping up the public for her. They love her so much they don't realize she has not won yet.

:(

its not the body count from a single event; for many people its the sheer number of incidents that drive their emotions.
