I hate to post such a general question, but does anyone have a link for what countries allow the carrying of weapons? Essentially, I plan to travel the world in my lifetime and I would like to know what countries have laws against handguns. I am particularly interested in the african countries and Poland. I've tried to google this without much luck.

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Essentially you're not allowed to carry a gun in other countries. As a general rule, countries take a dim view of foreign nationals toting guns and if you're caught with one you'll be in trouble ranging from deportation to jail, possibly even execution, depending on the country.

some info

hello
well the short answer is no where in europe ( with the possible exception of albania ) in south africa it might be possible ( although they are now clamping down ) if you have some friends who will give you the two references you require. in all the other countries i have visited you would need to classed as a resident to apply for firearm licence.
regards nat
ps in the uk all handguns are BANNED.
