I'm planning a week long trip to NYC with my girlfriend in May, and I was wondering if I could bother THR with som tips on gun or military history related sights to check out while she does her shopping?

I was thinking along the lines of museums, shops, NRA office/shop (I need an NRA mug for work :D ) etc. Any ideas?

I do realize that NYC is far from the gunfriendliest city in the US, better gun shops at home here in Oslo I presume. And there probably wouldn't be a thing in such a shop I could bring home without potential hassle. But maybe you could recommend me a nice knife shop?

This is my first visit to the US, unfortunately we only have time to see NYC this time. My GF was an exchange student in Mississippi in high school, and loves it over there, so I'm sure this Sikh/Viking couple be back to see more of the US at a later date :)

Thanks!

Oh yeah, I forgot about the antique gun collection at the Met. They also have some great swords and armor on display.

Should you find yourself in the East Village, my favorite bar in NYC is Manitoba's.

Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming! :)

The Met is already on my list, good to hear about the gun collection.

Your going to be there for a week.
Make plans for a day trip down to the Smithsonian in Washington D.C.
