"The Sand Pebbles" - the scene where Steve McQueen takes the 1903 Springfield and shoots the coolie which is being tortured, convinced me to purchase a 1903 high numbered Springfield.
I had always wanted an M1 Garand. All that Garand action in "Band Of Brothers" convinced me to take the cash I was saving for an M1A and buy an M1 Garand instead
"Enemy At The Gates" prompted me to get a C&R License and purchase a couple of Moisins and a Mauser.
After seeing it repeatedly in the last couple Bond movies, I bought a Walther P99 in .40 S&W. It was a good gun, but I decided to drop .40cal and traded it off. Now if Walther would make a .45ACP model, I'd probably pick one up.
As a couple of others have said... Band of Brothers made me buy a Garand... really - it was the series... wasn't my fault.
Other than an AR it was (for a time) the only centerfire rifle I owned. I credit that urge with broadening my interest from primarily handguns to include long guns (and long distance shooting). I love my '44 Garand.
There's also a Mosin (or two, or...) in my future due to Enemy at the Gates. Already have my C&R. Just waiting for my impending relocation (from the Socialist Workers Paradise of Maryland to the United States - i.e. Pennsylvania) to start buying again.
Hehehe. . .you're not the only one. My buddy is totally in love with that gun and wants to get an M1A (semiauto civilian version) bad. Really bad. Last time we watched BHD on DVD he held my other buddy's M1A everytime Gordon was onscreen.
I told him we have to make a pact. I buy the M1 Garand I want and he buys the M1A he can't live without .
