Alrite, so has anyone seen this cheesy movie?
I watched it last night, and it reminded me of all the SHTF threads out there. Basically the storyline is that theres a power outage in Southern California for a few days and everyone panics. The main characters are 2 guys and a wife.
I missed the beginning so I got to the part where the two guys decide to get a gun for home defense. The wife (played by Elizabeth Shue) goes bizzzerk about how she doesn't want a gun in the house and how she doesn't even want to see one. The husband decides its necessary anyways and goes with the other guy to get a gun.
The Gunstore: The 2 men arrive at a gunshop (in southern California), the clerk says that the shotguns have no waiting periods but the handguns have a 15 day waiting period. They end up buying a $95 shotgun for $300 and theres a line to the door of other people wanting to buy a gun. So out walks these two guys, the shotgun is in plain view of the public, the guys finger is on the trigger, he racks it and points and pulls the trigger on his friend.
Home invasion: So, everyone's asleep, one guy goes to the husband and wife and tells them someone broke into the house and asks for the shotgun. When the husband asks the wife where the shotgun is she told him that she tossed it in the pool! So, the 2 guys end up chasing the intruder out of the house, and the neighbor across the street shoots the intruder with a hunting rifle.
Next day: The family decides to leave the town after the intruder was killed. The husband retrieves the shotgun from the bottom of the pool, cleans out all the water. The next scene shows him load up shells in his backyard and he pulls the trigger at the ground, click, click, BOOM! Who the hell fires a shotgun in the backyard in the state of California
So... this movie got me thinking, its a entertaining SHTF movie, but damn... a lot of things in this movie is so incorrect (how the hell do you get a shotgun the same day in California and take it out of the store without a box). There were zero good gun handling skills and the guy even points the shotgun at his friend and pulls the trigger. Plus he fires a round into the ground of his backyard to see if it works and his neighbors doesn't even care that there was a gun that went off.
Overall grade: D (It was entertaining to see a SHTF movie)
Anyways, I'm done ranting. I only watched it cuz of Elizabeth Shue really.
