What does everyone pay per year for a club/range membership and what would you consider max price for 100yard range that is used for pistol, shotgun and rifle? Club also has a small pond to fish in and clubhouse for rent.

As you may know from previous complaints about my club I don’t agree with things they do or use money for. This year we had a local college donate enough fill dirt we could build a dedicated pistol range because now if i want to shoot rifle i must wait for handgun and shotgun shooters. Well seeing how they do 2-3 pistol/rifle matches a week, some of these guys come and do mag dumps with AR/AK it ticked the neighbors off and they took the club to the township and the township shut down building of the dedicated pistol range and all the dirt must be used to heighten our current range because the neighbors claim rounds are going over the backstop. The township also wanted the club hours changed from 9am-930pm to 9am-5pm.

This month’s meeting really sent me over the edge. We have 150 members but only 30-50 show for the monthly meeting because any more than 35-40 people you are standing in the back of the club and practically shoulder to shoulder.

Motion 1) change hours from 930pm to 5pm. Club members shot this down. I say good!

Motion 2) I never knew this but club officers, which include-secretary, membership, president, VP, etc. I’d say 8 people actually get their dues and work hours waived and have been getting paid for their “jobs”. They passed this to be moved from $350yr to $500yr.

Motion 3) low and behold 2 of the retirees who soak up 70-80 work hours a year want the work hour dues changed from $20 to $25hr. When a member asked if it made a difference in getting people to work since last time it was raised from $15hr to $20hr the answer was no, there was no increase in others doing work. The members pushing think “it will make people more receptive to work the hours if they increase it”. This passed. Only needed 33 out of our 150 members to pass it due to majority vote of members present. It’s impossible to get work hours because the same 6-7 guys show up Monday-Friday from 8am-noon and do everything. Mowing is done in the evening one week and morning the next. I showed up 4x for evening mowing which gives me 2-3hrs work and the grass was cut that morning. So i just drove an hour round trip and burned $20 in fuel for nothing. We have sent emails or spoke up during meetings and nothing ever happens so i quit showing up, instead i text one of the guys asking if I am needed and just show up late.

Motion 4) The same guy who wanted work hour dues raised wanted the membership to be raised from $65yr to $100 saying other clubs pay $100yr. These other clubs don’t require work hours though. Denied.

Motion 5) raise the yearly dues to $85 but now require $100 in fund raising $ to be donated per member. Fund raising is so the club can buy guns to raffle off in monthly meetings and we only get 20 people if that who buy a ticket. Sometimes the club has only made $30 on a gun raffle.

Seems like to me this place is becoming a clip joint. $365 for a single lane 100 yard range seems a little much to me. I sat down with the club VP this summer and told him a lot of people i know left due to not being able to perform work hours due to retirees soaking it all up from 8am-noon and how they allow 30-50 people out of 150 to decide the fate of things. Send emails, send letters and ask for everyone’s response. I honestly quit going to meetings because if you disagree with someone who has been there 20yrs your literally told F off, nobody cares what you think, I’ve been here 30yrs, etc.

I currently pay $150/year for membership (LEO, mil and geezer rate age 55+) at a 20-yard indoor range.

There's another indoor range that is located a bit further from my home. It has longer bays, but the annual membership fee runs quite a bit higher.

The nearest outdoor range charges $125/year (age 62+), but the drive from my place is about 1.5 hours round trip.

The best facility in my area is the Sun Mountain Gun Club, but the drive is also quite long, membership rates are higher, plus on top of the membership fee you have to pay again each time you shoot there. I've only used it for my CCW quals.

I pay $125/year with pistol range to 50 yards and rifle range to 300 yards

I'm a member of one of the oldest wildlife/shooting clubs in NC, founded in 1939. We offer a 300 yard rifle range with an enclosed shooting house, a separate 50 yard handgun range (long guns chambered for handgun calibers allowed); there is an archery range, a skeet range, a wobble-trap/5 stand range, and a 30 station sporting clays range. The club covers 180 acres with several walking trails and has a 5000 sq. ft. meeting house with a kitchen.

Initial membership is a $200 initiation fee and $200 initial membership fee. Prospective members must attend three club meetings before they can become a member. Members are required to have a Hunter Education class or a NC Concealed Carry permit to be considered for membership; this is required to ensure members have had firearms safety education. New members are considered provisionary for the first year and are required to perform 4 workdays, or be assessed $50 per missed workday or not renewed for membership the following year. Yearly membership is $200 with 3 required workdays (same $50 assessment per missed workday). Handicapped or elderly members get a reduced rate with no workdays. My membership dropped to $150/yr. with no required workdays when I turned 65, and I've been a member since 2015.

We have over 350 members. The club has an elected Board of Directors, picked from the membership and are unpaid, plus they have to maintain their membership. The ranges are open from daylight to dark, and are only closed during work maintenance periods or during formal meets and matches. There is video surveillance of the gun ranges to ensure compliance with range rules, as there are no regular RSO's except at matches. Range rules are prominently displayed on all ranges and infractions can be handled several ways up to and including loss of membership and banishment from the property (banishment makes you subject to trespass if found on the property). We operate under a "hot/range-cold range" system with either flags or colored lights to indicate range condition. When a new shooter shows up with others already shooting, courtesy demands the range go cold as soon as the new shooter is ready to place his target(s). Members may bring up to two visitors with them, and are responsible for the visitor behavior while on club property. There is a fee ($5) per visitor per range for range privileges.

There is usually a waiting list to get into the club, so it's not considered too restrictive, and issues with unsafe behavior are quickly handled by BOD. Everyone on any of the ranges is expected to act as s safety officer when they see potentially injurious behavior. Our ranges are very congenial, everyone gets along well, and it is a safe place to shoot.

I've got it real good. State run, excellent public range that's 20 minutes from my house.

Tues - Fri - First come, first served. $7 to shoot the 100 yd range, $12 for the 200 yd range. No time limits.
Sat - Sun - Reserved shoot times $7 for 1.5 hrs, either range. You can book consecutive blocks of time if you want to shoot longer.
Bathrooms, you can buy targets in the range office, there's even a guy with a hot dog cart that shows up on weekdays.

100.00 for pistol/22lr range to 50yrds, 100-200-300 rifle ranges, trap, skeet courses and Archery. No amenities aside from restrooms and covered benches.

No required working hours

$150 for my local 20yd indoor range and lgs. Normally $300 but I always get the $150 black Friday deal.
Rifle Range is $135 a year plus $20 per visit. 50 miles each direction...

Before I left my old range because of ever increasing fees and WAY too many events, and because I bought my own land, it was $675 before I left and is probably closer to $800 now 3 yrs later. It was $500 when I first became a member.

Clubhouse, 2 skeet ranges, 1 trap range, a nice sporting clays course, 2 100yd ranges, 50yd and 25yd ranges. 2 15yd handgun ranges. About 20 “tactical bays” which are just 15-20yd full surround berm bays for shotgunning or active handgun practice.

I get why they wanted to but general membership usually doesn’t like incessant tournaments, meets, competitions, etc. Especially when they invariably occur on weekends when folks like to just putter around at the range…which is what I liked to do.

I got sick of that and the ever increasing dues plus, I bought some hunting ground for myself which had room for a 100 yd range, which is all I really care about in a range anyway, so I bailed on the gun club.

I belong to a gun club with pistol ranges from 3-100 yards, rifle ranges from 50-500 yards, 9 tactical bays and a shotgun range with clay throwers. Dues are $150 a year and no one gets paid to be an officer. Range maintenance is once a month and more people show up than there is work. When upgrades are planned, a call goes out for volunteers and there’s usually more than enough people to finish the work quickly.

I also belong to an indoor range and that’s $400 a year. The max range is 100 yards.

25 yard indoor range is $19.99 a month with veterans discount for all the shooting you want. 247 yard rifle and 50 yard handgun outdoor range is a one time $100 for a lifetime membership and an additional $50 a year for family membership. Also have a free unsupervised public range to 667 yards.

The only local private club is $650/year. Very nice club house and events, multiple 100 yard rifle ranges, several pistol and combat ranges, 500 yard ( plans to expand to 1K yards ) steel target range, full menu of shotgun sports ( sporting course, skeet, trap ). It`s expensive for sure, I`m a member, and only really use the rifle ranges. I`m retired and have the means and have thoroughly enjoyed it, so it`s worth it to me.

I pay $200 annually for DNR range access. It’s nothing special but it is a place to shoot and conveniently located for me. Pistol, shotgun and 100 yard rifle bays.

$100 per year to buy guns to be raffled off at meetings? That seems insane. Is gambling legal in your state and if so can anyone start up a gambling operation? A local shop/range raffled off a few guns when they first opened but that got shut down quickly as

Private range out back.. open when ever I feel like it.

Pistol range with reactive steel, rifle with steel out to 760yds.

No dues, but I suck it down when it comes to:

Work hours
Prop taxes
Diesel
Spray paint for steel

I used have periodic board meetings with myself, then my wife would override my decisions anyway, so I stopped going.

I used to belong to a private range with a $200 initial fee, and $80 annual dues. Always had lanes open, could just show up and shoot. In retrospect, it really wasn't a bad deal.

A local company built a great facility about 45 minutes from my house. Trap shooting, a 200 yard range with about 15 covered stations and a 1000 yard range. Open to the public at about $30/hour. They offered a membership starting at $500, but you still paid a daily fee. The $1000 membership wasn’t much better. They’re closed now and I think part of that is their pricing. There’s rumors of a new buyer and we will see what develops.

We have a state owned range I used to visit. Facility is pretty nice but sometimes the visitors make me sorry I stopped by. During my last visit someone stole my targets and things got a little heated. Range officer told me later he figured the guy took my targets, but didn’t want to make an issue out of it. I haven’t been back since.

i envy those that have the ability to join a good range at a reasonable price.

Belong to 2 clubs. One is an outdoor range with 50, 75, and 100 yard berms for rifle, a 200 yard range with 8 benches, cowboy action shooting, 50 yard rimfire benchest range and pistol lanes. Club pays for range maintenance, $250 a year.

Belong to a commercial indoor range that sell various levels of membership benefits. 4 year old facilty. Ten 25 yard lanes, ten 15 yard lanes pistol range and a ten lane 100 yard indoor rifle range. Gun shop and gunsmith services offered.
$350 a year for basic membership that allows you to use all the ranges listed.

What does everyone pay per year for a club/range membership
Not exactly "everyone" pays for a club/range membership. As I've said before, my wife's and my "range" is a local, county gravel pit, and there's a genuine shooting range about 10 miles down the road that was built, and still is maintained by the county we live in. I guess that means we actually do pay for our "shooting ranges" seeing as how we pay property taxes right along with a lot of other folks that live in this county. ;)

Are there any positives? Sounds like you're very unhappy there. Just quit.

$330 a year for my wife and I at a local indoor range. Max is 25 yards. Was a nice place, but was recently sold and some of the new guys running the place are tough to get along with. Damn shame. Been trying to join a local club with pistol and out to 300yd range. By all accounts, the club is poorly run. But it would be convenient, so I keep trying.

Have a state run 100yd range 15 minutes from the house. They keep it up pretty well and it is free.

Thanks for the reminder that I need to renew my membership, the club just increased the annual membership from $35 to $45/yr. It has a pistol/rifle range with covered benches and a few shooting lanes, the furthest being 100yd. The lower range is for trap and went from $4/round to $5 and no staff eyeballing you and flexing on you every 5 minutes or interfering with your time, no overly stupid rules like "no drawing from the holster" etc..

I feel pretty fortunate after having heard all kinds of wild stuff on here about crazy monthly dues, like into the thousands annually and some bs about needing to fill in a certain number of hours annually for groundskeeping in addition to your financial dues. It's pretty wild to me, never knew places charged that much and they weren't even some state of the art fancy facilities either. So when I tell somebody that the memberships went up $10 to $45 and hear the sigh or see the frown I remind them what it's like other places.
