When do you walk away?

When rules and costs make it kind of a drudgery to continue, it's time to go. I stopped going to one of the nicer places locally when they refused to just let me shoot at the speed I wanted to (Not all that quickly, IMHO, and most of the time, I was the first customer of the day, and the only person shooting), and seemed more concerned about how far a couple of my guns ejected fired cases than "safety". I let them keep the brass, so what was the big deal? The places I go now range from a friend's backyard (a long way away), to a new place (very close and nice), both of which don't nag me about minor(At most) rules and regs, so I vote with my $$$.
I will miss being able to practice drawing from a holster and walking/shooting. The new place everything must be controlled fire and no drawing from a holster unless in a match.

Yeah, the first two ranges I shot at had no problems with holster draw and firing. I was kind of shocked the first time I went to a place that didn't allow it. They acted like I had totally lost my mind. It wasn't like I was walking around from lane to lane, I was just pulling the gun and shooting without sighting at a close up target. I was pretty good at it, and rarely had a spread more then about 5" tops. It was mostly something to break up the kind of boring target shooting I was doing 2-3 times a week back then. Since that place squawked about it, the (IMHO) over the top rules have ranged from annoying to "Never again at this place!"

Well I finally told the club where to go! I began working 60-64hrs a week last April and was unable to perform most the work hours. I sucked it up and paid the amount due for the little work I did and along with other members heard the smart … comments from the membership chair, secretary and treasurer, who are all family. This year, in June I sent an email to the Vice President, who is my former college professor asking for my work hours to be waived because since the beginning of the year I have only used the club 1-2x. He said he would look into it and asked I work a match and he would see about getting the rest of it waived. I was able to squeeze out 3hrs for a match and then work became a pain again. I received a letter last week stating that I owed $60 by July 30th or my membership would be removed. I also received a letter from the membership person, stating he is tired of hearing people complain about the work hours and dues, it’s not the clubs problem that we have to work so much or have so much personal stuff going on and since we agreed to the $20hr x 12hrs per year, $65yr dues, plus NRA membership, with 6hrs needing done by June 30th then they will find a new member who will follow their rules and be a better contribution to the club.

In august I can become a member of a cleaner, nicer range for $120yr so I chose today to tell them seeing how he wants to have smart … comments toward current 9yr members and it now proved my point they are only it it for the money I am resigning my membership to the club. Go find someone else who will put up with your nonsense!

They emailed back saying they would look into it and trying to get me to stay. I told them no, that was a slap in the face and I’m done with the political BS

GONRA sez - If yer young, save up $$$ and get LAND to do WOTEVER YA WANNADO!!!!.
(Won't verk for everybody, BUT WE'RE DESPERATE THESE DAYS GUYS!)

OP :
That's good that you have an alternative club you can join, within a reasonable drive (?).

Some of our local Taco Bells have conducted interviews and finally opened their buildings for inside ' dining '.

What this seems to indicate ---With such hiring in all industries (imagine medical office workloads), some gun clubs might find that many people have less time to mow grass etc.
