Gun Range

I'd have lost my mind, seriously. You deserve being berated for pulling something stupid like that. Not physically violent mind you but that little sob is going to get yelled at big time.

I was recently at a range talking to a guy for about 10 minutes and got to talking about concealed carry when he pulls a xd9sc and muzzle sweeps me "ya I carrry this", waving it around. I jumped back and swatted his hand and was "*** are doing!!!"...I got the strangest look and kept on him about safety and he got mad and sluffed off.
I had to do that to my dad once, he'd just hand me a gun muzzle first, "look at my new toy!"...that's fun...jumping down your Dad's backside LOL

I understand that you did not want to create a scene, but the fact remains, that some unknown person, just picked up your firearm and could have done what ? If it was loaded and he stuck it in your ribs and pulled the trigger than you would be dead. We as responsible firearm owners should do everything possible to secure our arms, even if it creates a scene. I would rather be embarrassed than dead.

Not acceptable, and one has to wonder where the hell that afternoon was going in the guy's mind.

I see enough derp at the rental ranges, but nothing as bad as someone plucking a firearm off of the bench and playing with it. Of course, I rapidly exited the wonderful world of rental ranges and escaped to the conservation club ... and the customers were the main reason to make the move.

I hope we all remember to leave our guns unloaded at the range unless we're actually shooting them. Better still (as already mentioned), keep the ones you're not using in the box/bag/case you transport them in.
In the OP's situation, I would have asked what the h--- he thought he was doing...just as a "gentle" reminder that we don't play with other people's property without their PRIOR permission, whether it's guns, cars, the stereo system or whatever.

It could have gotten ugly fast with different people at different places. What was this guy thinking??? Did you report him to the RO or store owner? Also, this is why I only keep on gun loaded at any given time and I usually have a loaded one holstered on my person at the range.

Gun Range
Today I was at the gun range, in my lane shooting my pistol, a complete stranger walked up to my lane and stood behind me, then gradually walked into my booth and started to handle my guns without my permission and asked me questions while I was in the middle of a magazine, such as "Is this an XD?" while holding my Glock 23. I was baffled by the bizarre behavior and left after the encounter.

Anyone else have uncomfortable encounters at a gun range?

i would not let him touch my firearms, becuse he could shoot me, someone else, or himself. if it were someone else, you would probably get prosecuted by the state & sued by their relatives. i would have stopped him by any means possible, no one touches my firearms without my consent. i would be polite as possible but firm.
